1......Word association 2......Summer transfer thread 3.......Saint Gaston Guys these threads have been running a while.......Appreciate that the window closes on Friday is it? If we are to adopt one of the temporary proposals then the word association thread will presumably have to go. On this particular thread there has been a lot of posts and Pm's saying keep it and get rid of it. The get rid of it lot are slightly in the lead. So you have to appreciate that will be what happens soon. As for the other threads our intention would be to get rid at the end of the window or at least with in 24hours of the window closing. That is what will happen unless there is any good reason why this should not happen. Any thoughts...........
1. There was a public poll by Godders saying keep/get rid/don't care and far more voted keep/don't care than get rid. 2. We've had a rumour thread for every window and they always die within days of the window closing, let it run its natural course 3. Again, let it run its natural course, there's no need to do anything.
If there is to be a purge of off topic threads then Word Association has to go (although that could herald a new game, where words have to be associated with football as well as the previous word...). Summer transfer rumours thread and Saint Gaston should be allowed to wither and die naturally. Or perhaps just rename 'summer transfer rumours' as 'transfer rumours', as BBC keep their gossip column going all year.
I'm not going to have any say on the word association thread. It doesn't matter to me one bit. I think the Saint Gaston thread will run its natural course as Dan said. You never know, we might have a few things to discuss about the Gaston deal even after the window is closed. As for the summer transfer rumour thread, well I don't see any reason for it existing after the window closes. It's probably appropriate for it to close when the window does.
Alternatively we could merge the two and let both die gradually perhaps........In the past as soon as the Window closes we have left it pretty well for 24 hours and it died naturally. We closed it but people could still read its contents. Do you not think though that both have got a bit stale?
I would suggest locking the Rumour Thread 24 hours(ish) after the deadline has passed. The Word Association thread, is purely rubbish (in my opinion) and killed time during the summer months. The Gaston thread maybe keep until a day or so after it is announced.
Depends what it's being used for. To be honest, we won't have many transfer rumours between windows, so I think any rumour that comes up during that time could get its own thread. I personally prefer it that way. Then we could have a new January rumour thread, and so on.
The whole Gaston transfer has gone a bit stale! Maybe someone could create a new thread for the final few days of the transfer that incorporates it all. The Gaston and Summer threads could then be closed and we would have a new fresh thread with all the current gossip and any signings to be debated in one place at the business end of the transfer window. A clean slate if you will, one where everyone can get back to debating what is happening currently.
