http://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2014/3/18/5521460/graham-ready-for-sunderland-return Danny Graham is welcoming the chance to come back to Sunderland to see where he stands. Danny Graham has let it be known that he feels there's still a chance he could do something in a Sunderland shirt once his loan spell at Middlesbrough expires this summer. Speaking with the Hartlepool Mail the striker said; There's a new manager there now and I want to go back there in the summer and see where I stand. Until then I don't know what's going to happen, so I've got to get my head down, work hard in the off season and see what comes of it. Clearly fancying his chances under Gus Poyet, the striker who failed to hit any sort of heights at Sunderland also found time to talk about his time on Wearside, which wasn't helped apparently by Martin O'Neill's departure or madcap Italians; Martin O'Neill was there and I think I only got five or six weeks with him then he was out the door and Paolo Di Canio came in. He did his job, got us safe and that was the main objective for the club. In pre-season I was the fittest I've ever been and then he said I had to go out on loan, but that's football, you take your highs with your lows and just get on with it. It's nice to know that despite feeling the brunt of many fans anger at his lack of goal-scoring prowess at the club, he doesn't appear to hold any bitterness. That said, it's unlikely that Gus Poyet will be the one to get him back to the form which persuaded us to part with best part of £5m for him in the first place. Never say never though.
To the power of 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 (Sorry keyboiard started beeping because I held the zero button too long!)
Had to chuckle at the 'back scoring goals' bit on Sky Sports. 3 in 25 this season, in your face Suarez...
We're struggling to score goals and we still sent him back on loan. Where does he think he ****ing stands!?!
Beat me to it! Just to invite pelters, with this being a new way of playing, is there any way at all he could fit in with Gus`s new style? He hasn`t scored many goals but neither has anybody else. Tin hat on
But then we'd only have 3 strikers at the club - 2 unproven and one which we'd signed! As opposed to having the three we've got now - one proven not to be good enough as yet (I still hope he scores soon and proves me wrong), One unproven and Fletcher -= proven but not able to play anymore (and not showing enough this season)! Which is the lesser of 2 evils!. I'd keep Wickham if there are no "behind the scenes" things which make managers send him out. Personally I think he could be good enough - given as much chance as Altidore and Fletcher have been there's nothing I've seen that tells me he's no better (this season)
You know mate, he scored for Swansea, who play in a way similar to what Gus is looking for. But he is ****, his confidence is shot, and the majority of fans won't give him a break, so for me we'll never know and he needs to ship out.
That`s what I was thinking. He did net a few for them. I doubt his confidence can be any lower than Jozy or Fletch. You`re absolutely right about the fans though. I just wondered if he might fit the new set up. He might surprise us all. Unless of course Gus has seen enough already.
I would feel hard done by if i was wickham. The chances that fletch and jozy have had and for me conner has never had a good run of 10 - 15 ges to prove himself. He cant be any worse then what we have seen this season
I`m coming more and more round to the idea there must be something behind the scenes. Might be attitude/whinger/**** stirrer or something. To be loaned out when we are this desperate suggests something wrong somehow. Don`t know why I think that. Just a niggle.
I can't see it working out but what would you want him to say really? "It hasn't worked out at Sunderland so I need to look elsewhere", even if that has been agreed behind the scenes just saying it in public could reduce his value (cue comedic responses I guess)
i signed for sunderland for a decent fee with a decent record from swansea on good wages, i would love the chance to prove my worth. would have been nice
He had the chance, his first 5 or 6 matches were very good, lacking goals yes but good performances none the less, then you could visually see that he stopped giving a ****. He looks like one of these strikers who falls out of love with football every time he hits a baron spell, he grabs a brace for boro and suddenly he's enthusiastic about his footy. Not the character we need imo
Sorry Danny you are simply not good enough, and that goes for a few other strikers at the club, whose performances have left us in the proverbial.
