For the first time in what seems several years,i`m full of anticipation and excitement about the upcoming new season. With a new and competent manager and some very good signings (not too sure about ellington tho) we have at long last assembled a challenging team with a reasonable strength in depth. I dont know if i`m beeing foolish,but i fervently beleive we could very quickly become THE team to beat this season and put us where we belong. Like a lot of people i was worried about the clegg factor in the transfer market, but my fears have proven to be groundless,maybe he new rk wouldnt be here for too much longer and therefore withheld the purse strings until a decent manager could be bought in. Anyway like i said i`m full of optimism this year and cant wait until the season starts,i`m starting to feel like i did when king bobby was here and its great. Bring it on!!
Ellington has been drafted in as a supersub I think - I don't see him starting too often. I agree that our fears about Clegg's shortcomings have now proved groundless, but we are only half way there with the squad - we are still short all over the park.
I think we can be optimistic when we compare to Keane's seasons, but we are still a long way away from being 'complete'. That said, we may as well just enjoy seeing some quality football for the first time in an age!
its the start of a new season and like all fans its good to be optimistic thats what makes football such a great game and come the end of the season when most of thoses expectations have gone up in smoke what do we do look forward again to the next season however things might be different this season or is that me just being OPTIMISTIC ??
I'm not overly optimistic for promotion this season, which I think would be too early for us anyway. But I am optimistic for the future, the club seems to be finally heading in the right direction after 3 years of poor management. And it appears we will be playing attractive attacking football which excites me, I may be inclined to go to a few more games this season. Season 2012/2013 is when we will challenge for promotion.
