Although it's not 100% a done deal it does now look like Argyle has been bought and that Ridsdale will be running the show, so what next for Argyle? Will Peter Reid keep his job? He certainly should do based on loyalty but will Ridders want him and will PR himself wish to stay given there seems to be no money available for players and that we are at the bottom of the football league. From a footballing point of view we are in dire need of a proven goal scorer right now - oh how I wish we still had Bradley Wright-Phillips, couldn't we use him right now? Striker aside though we are a young side playing some neat football and I for one do not want a return to the "hoof it and hope" style which seems to have plagued us in recent times - another Rory Fallon would encourage this style of play and IMO is not the answer. The next few years both on and off the field are going to be tough, no doubt about that. It will soon become clear what Heaney & co's plans are for Home Park and for Ridsdale and the footballing side of things the fans will need to return in numbers of last season and the one before that - no mean feat considering our position and the fact we have yet to win a match this season! The fans must do their bit, it is no use saying you aren't going until those running the show have gone, that could be years away and anyway is there a realistic alternative to the present owners? I think we already know the answer to that. So come on lets make Home Park a fortress once again the future is in our hands!
Whether you can turn Home Park into a Fortress Mrs Reid will depend on the depth of peoples feelings about the new owner, I think at the next home match you should be able to gauge what people think by the number of people who come through the turnstiles.
GAT, you are not alone in your misgivings concerning Ridsdale, Heaney & co. mouldy has just written an excellent post on another thread listing his misgivings he has had from day1, however, tell me what the alternative is now? We have to collectively get behind the FOOTBALLING SIDE and put the boardroom dealings out of our minds because if we don't then there will be no more Plymouth Argyle.
Plymouth Argyle will always be my team Mrs. Reid, but I've said from day one that if Risdale took us over that I wouldn't set foot in Home Park for the duration. I truly am gutted at the thought that I wont be able to see my beloved team play but I have to stand by what I believe in. I know some might find it hard to understand my stance, but I've gotten through life this far by standing by what I believe in, and since Friday I have been feeling absolutely gutted at the prospect of my self imposed exile, I'm also female and very, very stubborn lol. I respect other peoples views, so I would never have a pop at whatever anybody else believes in. I for one for obvious reasons hope that Risdale's involvement with Argyle is a short one.
Based on his record elsewhere, I'm vehemently anti Ridsdale too GAT but I'm not going to let that stop me going to games. The only logical reason for Ridsdale becoming involved is that he thinks he can make money by lifting Argyle up the leagues and then selling out. There certainly won't be any surplus to extract from day-to-day finances. The worry is how much risk he's willing to take to do that. We don't know whether he has any personal exposure [bank guarantees & the like] but he certainly hasn't risked much with the £1 he's paid for the club! You'd imagine that PAFC shorn of its stadium & land doesn't actually provide much of a base for rash speculation - who'd lend it money? Hopefully that means any progess has to be done the hard way on the scouting circuit and the training ground. That wouldn't be the worst option!
If Peter Ridsdale can drag PAFC back up to the Championship then all strength to his arm.........and if he sells on......or finds a rich benefactor..........so be it.....I'll accept that anytime.
I've made this point several times GAT but I'll say again 'What has Peter Ridsdale done wrong as far as Plymouth Argyle are concerned?'. Given a choice Ridsdale would not be my man but if he'd decided to leave the sinking ship then I don't think there would now be a Plymouth Argyle today.
Good Morning Greens_are_good_for_you, Risdale has done nothing wrong apart from claiming rent for a big house, claiming consultancy fees, oh and driving around in a new BMW leased to Argyle 125 whilst the staff still go unpaid ...... all the while stating I am a reluctant buyer .... he also appointed his friend the administrator before the HRMC could appoint one .... we'll never know if the administrator choosen by the HRMC would have had the sale gone through a long, long time ago and not who we've ended up with ..... it is my opinion only, but that man doesnt do anything unless there is something in it for him ..... Who´s name GAT? If we had a choice of one of our old strikers back Mrs Boss I would rather have Mason than BWP tbh. What´s next for Argyle?...... at the moment a long hard struggle to stay in this league, 2-3 years to re-build a balanced squad that can get us out of this league and get back some finanial stability or a janner winning the Euro lottery. I think if Reid is removed as manager we should offer to make him Director of Football for the club. He has the contacts and knowledge to be a great benefit to the club if used properly. It would certainly save Ridsdale a lot of grief from the fans if he tried to sack him.

I take your point GAT and agree with a lot you say. However 'he who should not be mentioned' isn't doing this purely for the love of PAFC. Unfortunately those of us who would do it for love do not have the required connections and knowledge to dig ourselves out of this mire. Hence I agree with Mexijans signature 'In R*d*d*l* we have to trust'. Dan MacAuley didn't stop me watching Argyle and certainly Ridsdale won't. As true supporters we have to cough up our season ticket money and hope that this brings about survival of the club.
