I definatly think Del will drop fonts at boro fonts was at fault for two definite goals yesterday.

I reckon JW will get a shout alongside Carey or a new man comes in.

He wont drop fonts even after that horror show, he is a left footed ch and is comparatively young. a dominant CH next to him would settle him down I think.

He should drop both or at least Fonts but I bet he will keep them both especially given that fonts is the captain. I guess he still has James Wilson, Nyatanga and Stewart who are who available before looking at someone else so he has options.

The other option could be to play Holloway as he is a defender/striker and with his physical build could be the player that we have been looking for, strong and wins balls in the air.

If DMc had real alternatives, he would drop both. In his post match interview I have not heard him so down about the gaffs at the back since he came here.
    What are his alternatives?
Nyatanga to replace Fonts? No as this weakens us right from the start. Just maybe Fonts will not be as bad again but confidence in our defenders appears to be a fragile thing so could be even worse tomorrow because he will be trying too hard not to repeat the errors.
The miskick that let in Rhodes for the first one I can accept but where was the cover from his fellow central defender? And for rhe Rocina goal - well that's a comedy of errors all the way from the halfway line but even then immediately before he shot into the net, Fonts had an opportunity to tackle but actually backed off him 10/12 yards from goal leaving him an easy pot shot.

James Wilson to replace Carey. A definite yes as Carey was also directly responsible for two goals. He was much too far away from Gomes for the second goal and just backed of Rhodes for the fifth without any effort to drive him out to the left. Sadly I think Louis is past his best before date and while I don't doubt his commitment, there are times now when he does not react quickly enough.

What about moving Cole Skuse to central defence with Marv or Morris in midfield?

One point that has been overlooked. If Stead had scored that sitter, maybe the game would have gone completely differently.

Its true that Skuse started off as a defender so could play there but you will lose what he brings to the midfield and that showed last season when you compare his performances at right back to when he started playing in midfield again and we started winning as his job is to try and stop their play before they get to our defence.

Fontaine plays best next to a dominant centre back, see our run in last year. So dropping Carey is definately my shout, they were both at fault for goals. Don't waste Skuse as a defender, he's our best midfielder.

    Andy and Jambo.
That was my feeling about Skuse but raised it as agent provocateur.

And true about the early second half miss by Stead. We may well have won if.............. although with our defence it could have still ended 4-6

'Fontaine plays best next to a dominant centre back' - Who doesn't. I found it the easiest position bar none to play.

I expect McInnes will stick with Carey and Fontaine unless he feels Carey can't play twice in a few days. Del doesn't have much choice and already said he wants Wilson out on loan so unlikely that he will opt for him. Nyatanga, sorry not for me.

Best option for me to strengthen our defence is to play Pearson left side instead of Woolford and bring in Elliot.
He'd be that extra defender at set pieces to aid Fonts and Carey.
I'd also ring a few changes up top. We have a squad, let's use it.

Drop Fonts in a heartbeat. Nowhere near good enough to be in the starting 11 of most CCC sides, let alone be our Captain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the Captain he should not need a dominant CB playing next to him to bring out his best, HE SHOULD be that dominant CB who makes others like Tangled feet play well, yet he doesn't. Clearly at fault for at least 1 goal on Saturday, and combined with Louis for another, so in truth they both need replacing, however one step at a time

Could Marv be converted to a CB, as he isn't looking likely to get much game time in the middle of the park, just a thought.

I think we need 2 new ones both sides I don't think Wilson can do all the games and Louis is getting on and still worry about fonts and well tanglefeet is not good enough so need a left footed one and a right footed one
