Saha was linked with Sunderland in June after his short-term deal at White Hart Lane expired. He said at the time: “I would consider going to Sunderland.” With O’Neill telling a lunch in aid of the club’s Foundation this week to brace themselves for “more signings than people expect” in this transfer window, it seems inevitable there will be further additions to Sunderland’s squad before the deadline arrives at the end of the month. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For anyone thinking we have put all our eggs in one basket with regards to Fletcher and no one else is coming or that we have not been looking for other targets then read what it says above. MoN knows our squad is poor and there is a lack of quality, it was shown on quite a few occasions last season especially the away trips at Blackburn and WBA and it has continued from the defeat to Everton in the cup until now bar the trip to the Etihad. The manager is a very clever bloke and he knows we need to strengthen all over the park and he has said that he has told a number of players that they can go if the right offer comes in. The right time to judge is the 1st of September when the transfer window slams shut and I am 100% positive that by then 1 or 2 more will of gone and at least 5 will of came in, it might take them time to gel but it will be worth it as we need desperately need them as our current squad bar 4 or 5 is very average Ha'Way the Lads! Lets get behind MoN and the club he has said that more will be coming in than everyone expects lets just be patient and wait for that to happen. Got a feeling there will be more than just Saha signed before tomorrow's cut off to be able to play on saturday
I've never been less than 100% totally behind the manager matey. I still feel privellaged to have the bloke here. All the doubters, moaners and the doom and gloom merchants will all feel pretty silly come the 1st of September imo as well. Mon's red & white army is both strong and true in my house.
louis saha ‏@louissaha08 I'm on my way to discuss with Sunderland. thats from his official twitter account so thats one down hopefully a few to follow, think one more definitely in the next 24hours Hutton? Olsson? N'Zonzi? McGeedy? Phillips? Guidetti? Fletcher? Would love as many of them as possible
Saha is a cracking player, to me like super Kev, and very nice of him to say he would like to go to SAFC. I would also like to say to him we have a lovely town, fanatical supporters, fantastic beach, and no traffic problems like in London! (i stayed down there for 4 days once and it was chaos). Also on the BBC website QPR, Aston v and us were after Jemaine defoe, MON get down to Spurs pronto and sign him! £15-20 m would be a bargain. He scored a cracker of a goal last night.
Rather have Fletcher than Defoe, think Fletcher is perfect for us playing upfront by himself, Sess just behind, McClean on the left n a new quick tricky winger on the right
If we got Johnson, Hutton, Fletcher, Saha, Defoe, Olsson and Dann I would be very happy. Can't see us getting all of them but you never know.
Wouldn't want Dann like, rather keep the 5CB's we have and give ourselves a year to bring in a quality 1 next summer, maybe Samba. Louis Laing looks a top prospect and I would rather bring him through than have Dann, just don't rate him and he would be behind O'Shea, Brown, Cuellar, Killa and maybe even Bramble IMO We certainly dont need a CB this summer unless they are an improvement on what we have
Hutton?? Alan Hutton?? He's absolutely ****e from what I saw of him last season!! the rest - definitely but please not Alan Hutton!!
Alan Hutton done a brilliant job when he was here on loan, I thought. Definitely one of the best right backs I have seen in a Sunderland shirt, and would be very happy if we were to sign him.
According to reports he could be available for around 2m yes he was pretty poor last season but the lad is still at a good age and I am sure he could get back to the level that he was at when he was on loan here, apparently McCleish wouldn't let him roam forward which he done best when at us and gave us another attacking option. At around 2m I think its a risk worth taking, look at the prices nowadays 2m is nothing and would be good competition for Bardsley
