I have to say I am quite cynical about Clegg lowering the ticket prices. Whilst I think its a great idea as the match day prices are disgusting at Portman road, I paid £26.50 to watch the Nottingham Forrest match and that was student pricing the most I have paid at any other ground for a student ticket is £15, I think Clegg is just doing it to justify the high prices.

He will lower the prices for the Middlesborough match, the attendance will only be slightly better and we will make a loss in terms of revenue. Which will lead to him basically saying I told you so, the prices will remain as they are this season for next season. Which to me is beyond the point, football should be accessable to nearly everyone who wants to support the club and prices made to be reasonable. High ticket prices may be better in the short term to balance the books but not in the long term as you are decreasing the fan base for the future and less people will be exposed to ITFC(actually maybe thats a good thing atm)!!

I'm not a fan of Clegg by anymeans but I don't agree with all the flack he has been taking, although he doesn't help himself sometimes, he's the obvious target for fans when things aren't going well at the club. But saying that the ticket prices is certainly something where I do think he is wrong.

One thing we need to do if we want to the tickets to be cheaper in the future is try to encourage as many people as possible to go to that match, so Clegg can't say I told you so!!(sorry about the copy and paste couldn't be bothered to write something similar again)

That's also the problem with changing ticket prices in the middle of a season!!! I think that on the whole the ticket prices for season ticket holders are pretty reasonable its just the match day tickets that are just criminal!!

So you reckon that an above inflation rise in Season Ticket prices is reasonable when we have had to sit and watch this rubbish all season!

JWM, We can't whinge on to him about the prices of tickets, then when he does something about them still moan. This is my thinking on the subject, if he sees that lowering the prices will attract more supporters he might see sense that if he lowers the season ticket price next season he will see an increase in sales, thus making up the shortfall and we have a big gate so more burger and beer sales!

Then again, it might just be a PR stunt!

    JWM certainly can and does!!

JWM you as ever miss the point and go off on a rant!! God knows why you support ITFC atm, it can't be good for your health.

My point was compared to match day prices, season tickets(although yes alot of money) seem reasonable and on par with most other clubs whereas the match day tickets aren't. Or I could say as I'm sure you would prefer that season ticket prices are ridiculous and really Clegg should be paying us to go to matches!!

Good point Guru, I think I said something along similar lines the other day. Until the club gets onto some kind of level ground then Clegg is damned if he does/ damned if he doesnt.
Over the last month we have moan about a lack of interaction and ticketing prices at the club. To be fair to Clegg he appears to have replied to every email and is looking at pricing therefore answering some of the gripes.
Hopefully we can put together a few results and combined with some off the field initiatives we can move towards a happier future.

I think we have good legal grounds to sue the club under the trades descriptions act...! <ok>

I do actually agree in part ptc (<yikes>) you can't have one off ticket promotions half way through the season. Whatever next! How about a BOGOF deal like they do at the supermarket? Keep the tickets at a reasonable level all year round and then the support will follow. Keep kids for a Quid as they are future Town supporters.

Indeed it does, not many people can manage it, so congratualtions on that one!!

Like I said I think we should persue this with a certain amount of caution, IMO he is doing it to prove a point.

I did say a while ago when people called for a price reduction that it does not seem fair to season ticket holders, but at least Clegg is trying somethings.

Why so cynical? It makes financial sense to play with the model. By decreasing ticket prices you could potentially increase revenue. That's what Clegg is trying, it's not a giveaway.

The only mistake he may be making is not having a proper Operational Research model but who knows.

In the long term decreasing ticket prices SHOULD get more people involved in the club... which means more sales of shirts/scarves/mugs but this won't be obvious if Clegg is only looking at one match reduced in price... but at least it is a start!
