Okay, he is the first manager I ever wanted SAFC to appoint and they did.

Thought he came in looked the business. Got the team turned round and playing.

I though he inherited an awful squad from Bruce. I still thing Bruce shoulders some blame for our current predicament.

However MON in my opinion totallygot January wrong. I also started to doubt his judgement of players.

He allowed Meyler and Campvell to go. Both would have added to our team currently.

He brought in Graham and N'daiye for £10 million or there abouts. He also paid o we the odds for Fletcher. I won't argue for Johnson as I think most Sunderland fans were happy to get him.

He has failed to give Connor Wickham a fair chance despite when he came on to give Norwich a run for their money.

He had for me lost the plot. We have played the most negative football I've ever seen a Sunderland side play.the Norwich game being a prime example.

Should we have sacked him now? Well I would have seen the season out as I feel we are doomed either way and any new manager now will be tainted if we go down.

I think we will be relegated and we have been going to go down for 2-2 weeks now.

I sadly feel the situation is hopeless. Maybe being relegated and rebuilding the squad at championship prices is better.

Has this all resulted from when Quinby walked away? You would have to say we have dipped.

I sadly don't believe there is a manager out there that can save us due to the **** players we have.

We really so need to start again. Why ****e footballers are paid so much is beyond me. The only player Irate and would keep is Mig!

    Absolutely dejected!

Not having a go at anyone or trying to upset anyone. To sack MON now well to be fair as much as I wanted gim it's justifiable.

Will our players improve. Doubtful in my mind.

They buying policy at our club has been a joke! When you look at who we have allowed to leave, malbranque, zenden, bent, Henderson, none have been replaced.

Has short been honest with us? This club has spunked away tens of millions on very poor players.

I just can't see where Sunderland goes from here apart from oblivion. I think this is the beginning of the end. Gutted.

    Good post

I wanted him in desperately and up until QPR away I supported him fully

Makes me sick how average the team is after all the money spent

If we stay up, investment is needed. Would love if we signed from abroad on the cheap instead of getting ripped off in England

If we go down we could make a fair bit of money from the squad to reinvest.

Whatever happens we need to buy very cleverly in the summer

Meyler and Campbell - 2 Bruce signings.

Another one (Turner) doing the business at Norwich.

Looking like Elmo will be playing Premiership football next year but not for Sunderland....

There is some contradiction in this post.....

I'd be sadder if we hadn't seen this before. I'd just hoped we'd seen the back of it with MON. Like the OP, I was really chuffed when he came and turned our season around. But this one's been pretty awful TBH. I just hope we have a replacement lined up.

Cattermole? I'd have him in any lower-half premiership squad. Wes Brown the same.... Who are we talking about specifically?
People forget, Bruce did well enough in his first 18 months to get an extension to his contract. Injuries and a thin squad did for him in the end.....

    Bruce partly to blame?

He was sacked in late 2011 and there have been 3 transfer windows since then.

O'neal spent over £30m this season on permanent transfers bringing in 10 permanent and 2 loan signings and has got rid of 16 players and raising £13m.

Sorry mate but that's a bollocks of an excuse. He's had 3 transfer windows and millions to spend, Fletcher & Johnson aside, MON has been crap in the transfer market.
Take January. We knew where we were poor, midfield and up front and we needed players who would come in and make an impact. What did we get? the slowest center forward in the EPL and 2 players who had never played EPL football before, one of which was crocked anyway and still is.

Steve Bruce was never one of my favourite managers, along with others on here and he was never going to win us trophies, but FFS stop using him as an excuse for MON's inabilty to perform.

I'm not sure he's for sale and I think we need more than one player.... (I'll get me coat)

I've heard a few people, like the op, say Fletcher was overpriced and hasn't really succeeded, he has 12 goals in a poor side. agree with your post though Vaughan
