A message to you Siggi! You can follow Brenda to Scouseland and spend most of the season sitting on the bench, or you can honour your commitment to us and play under a manager who has been described as the best player of the ‘90’s!

I really wouldn’t blame you if you decide to go to Liverpool – I would love to have a job that paid me handsomely for the act of ‘sitting down’ – something that I am rather good at! But if you would like to spend this moment of your career playing football then I believe Swansea would be quite a good career move – we have just secured the service of a manager who was ‘a little bit good’ when he was a player, but don’t take my word for it:

Romário: "The best player I have ever played with and the 5th best in the history of the game”
Raúl: "The best I have ever played with."
Zamorano: "Un genio!", "The reason why I make so many goals, is Laudrup."
Platini: "One of the biggest talents ever. The best in the world on the training pitch,
Guardiola: "The best player in the world, I can't believe he hasn't won the title as best player."
Beckenbauer: "Pelé was the best in the 60s, Cruyff in the 70s, Maradona in the 80s and Laudrup in the 90s."
Roberto Galia: "I have played against Maradona, Platini and Baggio. But the player I saw do the most indescribable things was Michael Laudrup."
Clemente: "To me, Michael Laudrup is the most genius player the world has ever seen. He will always be my numero uno. Always."
Bakero: "No one has given the club [Barcelona] as much inspiration as Michael. We all look up to him. It is a privilege to have your day enriched by a genius."
Koeman: "Michael was possibly the most skilful and elegant player I ever played with. Few could dribble like he could. He could sense when a game was ready to be seized and transformed by a moment of individual brilliance."
Stoichkov: "One of the best European players I’ve ever seen. An elegant, old-fashioned playmaker, he did things few other footballers could do."
Figo:"I think maybe Laudrup was the best player I ever played against.”
Mourinho:"He was phenomenal in Barcelona. He was a fantastic player whom I would love to have on my team today."
    Stoichkov: "Laudrup was the greatest"
Iniesta: "Who is the best player in history? Laudrup."

So over to you Siggi – take the scouse pound if you want – a lot of money for sitting down I grant you – but if you want to play football on a regular basis – under a manager that has been described by his peers as one of the greatest players in the game – then come back to us – you know it makes sense! ;)

If fans needed a lift after the departure of Brendan Rodgers then they sure as Hell got one today as a truly global superstar was unveiled as the man to take the club into its second century……talk about a top quality 100th birthday present for the club from Huw Jenkins and Co!

I think this is surely one hell of a dealbreaker? Laudrup played the same position Sigurdsson plays, and the chance to work one-on-one with one of the worlds greats is surely too good to pass up? Having said that, maybe he sees the same opportunity at Liverpool playing alongside/training with Gerrard. Who knows eh?

Why do you all assume Gylfi will be bench warming ? I reckon he'll play a lot of games, probably not every game but more than you lot are saying. Rodgers obviously likes the lad and knows what he's capable of, a midfield 3 of Lucas, Gerrard and Gylfi is what I see happening. Adam is bollocks and no way he'll start ahead of Gylfi, Shelvey will probably go on loan or stay as backup, Aquilani is as good as gone and Henderson will be the only one competing for that 3rd spot in midfield with Gylfi.

I think the difference is he can expect to start every week here, because he'll be the best in that position. I think there's something to be said for knowing you're going to play every week, it helps you relax on the field...

To be honest I think we're all just trying to find reasons he'll come to us over you guys!

Yeah I guess, he's nailed on at Swansea to start every game like he did in the second half of last season, and to an extent he'll be your standout player whereas at Liverpool he'll be just another player in a way. But with us being in the Europa League there are just too many games for him not to have a major contribution throughout the season.

Anyway, I reckon he may think twice about Liverpool now with Laudrup at Swansea now. At the end of it all there are valid reasons for him to move to Swansea and there are valid reasons for him to move to Liverpool.

Nice post, but Laudrup doesn't play these days so what do all those plaudits mean to someone that has no loyalty to the Swans,us or anyone else?,he'll choose his next club and wont bat and eyelid when he does.

Tbh i couldn't give a flying one if we sign him or not,and its sad that bitterness has crept into the banter between our boards,i hope he signs for the Swans and i hope Laudrup is a success for you lads.<ok>

No bitterness for liverpool mate just a shock reaction to rogers leaving thats all, but today we are over that we had a good deal out of it and we are now used to shedding managers and replacing them with better ones who have improved our close knit team every time so far !

Good luck on your way eventually to the top end where a big team with all your resources belong, but be warned we are going to be after your big scalps again this season !

What these plaudits mean is that he was one of the best players in the world ever and when he comes to swansea all our players will be inspired by him and want to play and learn from him!

No mate I'm not suggesting you guys are bitter, just think you're underestimating the amount of game time he'll get.

Anyway, I genuinely like Swansea (not just saying that cos I'm on your board), prefer you to the bluebirds anyway (or should I say redbirds now), if we get back to the top you can have all the scalps you like mate.

i think he will be a flop myself. hoff did not play him.reading did not do anything when brendan and siggs were there, the only time he got noticed was with us and that was temporary stint of goals, once managers sussed him then he never did that much and did not score....we have the best deal with him not joining....

No matter how many good players sign for Liverpool , the team lacks . The right manager is what is needed , maybe Rodgers is that man . If everyone isn't pulling the same way it won't matter who Liverpool sign , they'll be spinning there wheels again . If Rodgers loses the dressing room early & Liverpool struggle , it could get really ugly quickly . I think Sig & Rodgers best chances were as big fish on a small team ... the small fish , big team scenario might be a bit dangerous for both there careers .

Yes ,he scored some great goals for us but they were team efforts- some great assists.Expectations at Liverpool will be higher and their team under Brendan are going to have to adapt to his style of play. Also thought his price was far to much.

Where did you hear that Man United are in for him Bonymaen ?
That would make it really interesting - would he rather play for Rodgers or play in the champions league ?
I'd find it really funny if he ended up elsewhere than Liverpool now. GAZUMP !!
