Hull City. Founded in 1904. Been through some good and bad times. Mainly bad I guess. But who would've thought it? That little club from Yorkshire getting promoted, going to Wembley and playing in the premier league. The best league in England. Some argue the world. Them men that set up Hull City would never have thought that city would be in this position. But in the next 6 games city might have thrown away all that hard work. Arguing over a name change right now it's pathetic! I know some fans will still stay supporting the Tigers but some of them will leave if hull go down. What's a name really? Would you stop loving your children if they changed their name? Would you stop buying your food from tescos or asda or morrisons or wherever the hell you buy your food from just because they changed their name? Hull city's a club. It's not about the name or the logo or the fancy stadium. It's about the people in it. The fans. The supporters. The real fans. The ones that go week in week out. Hear the game or watch it on TV every week. Whatever the weather. Wether they're ill or busy. They're always there. They get behind the team and aren't pathetic enough to argue over whether hull should be followed by city or tigers. I mean I'm not in favour of the name change. But I'm not stupid enough to let it get in the way. The fans who want to protest you go ahead and protest in your own time. Don't let it affect the game. Hull city has 6 games left before we know for sure whether they're going down or not. And they really don't need people saying "oh we're down now" and "what a load of crap this is". Don't get me wrong. Hull aren't brilliant and right now they seem more like a championship team then a team fighting for their lives but if everyone stays positive and supports them rather then be pathetic bastards and arguing over things that don't really matter then we stand a chance . I know it would take a miracle to take us out of relegation but we might as well go down fighting right? If anyone's going to any games home or away you've got to shout as loud as you can and support them. Get behind the team. Cheer on the lads. And if we go down then we go down but at least we've worked together and put in 110% effort. It's better to try then to not isnt it?
I was waiting for a post just like this. There comes a time where blind faith and severe optimism just don't work anymore. Nobody wants us to go down, but the hard truth is we are looking very likely and the sooner people realise this the better, none more so than those at Hull City.
The theme of your post is pretty much lets stick together and support the lads but you talk about the team referring to them as 'they' and 'they're' rather than 'us' - strange. Thanks for also confirming the Premier League is the best in England. I was beginning to think League 1 was the best for a while.
In answer to your question(s); Yes I would disown my kids if they changed their names, ungrateful little bastards. As for the shopping question, I don't do the shopping. Her indoors does. Deal with it.
Loyalty when shopping is completely different to loyalty when supporting a football club. The sooner you realise this the sooner you'll become a supporter & not the type o PL customer you currently are & Allam desperately seeks. Great first post, it can only get better.
I was only thinking today watching QPR these last few games forget what form were in, bollocks to all negativity, forget how crap many think we are, forget who we have got to play take one game at a time and get behind this team and push them on the extra yard, if we go down we do but lets go down fighting. Yes its looking more likely but as fans that's all we can do its up to the players to do the rest and if they don't well I don't want to look back these last few weeks and think I sat there like a little terrified mouse I want to say I did my bit and got behind the team even though at this moment in time its difficult to lift the spirit one win could change it all.
If Morrisons was better than Tescos I'd shop there. If Tescos got its act together and was better than Morrisons I'd swop back. If Aldi came along and was cheaper and better, I'd change shops again. A football club isn't a supermarket.
Where to start with that load of tosh! The little club from Yorkshire?Who,would have thought they could play in the top flight and get to Wembley? That is the sort of small town mentality nonsense that has held this city back for decades. I can't be bothered listing all the clubs from similar sized cities or smaller than Hull that have won the league and the cup or spent a long time in the top flight, but even a few show that the disgrace is that we haven't been doing the same during those years. Can you imagine a fan of Sunderland, Wolves, Bolton, Blackburn, Derby, Wigan, Portsmouth, Barnsley, Ipswich or Burnley saying that? They are all smaller places than Hull and have won the league or the cup or both. Fans of most of them think their team should be challenging for honours and playing in the top flight. You seem awfully confused. You refer to City, Hull (something no City fan Iknow of does) and the Tigers. No wonder you aren't bothered what we are called. Your comparison to children's names and supermarkets is ludicrous. You say Hull City's a club. Then you say it is the fans, including those not there but listening on radio or watching on TV. Most of our fans haven't being shouting loudly for the other games so why do you think they might now! Have a look at the away followings on MOTD. All stood up. Except ours. Some of them didn't even jump up following our near misses yesterday. Fair play for spending time and money and to the ones who get behind the team but our support at away games doesn't match up to some other teams. It isn't that great at home either with a few honourable exceptions. BTW, you can't put in 110% effort.
Could be an old poster who doesn't want to associate himself with any flak he gets for that load of nonsense.
We have played pretty erratically all season, but there have been matches where we more than matched the team the non-partisan punters predicted us to be demolished by. I'm thinking of Arsenal away (scant few minutes from a win), Chelsea the other week when Curtois stopped three goal bound efforts in a row and the draw against Man City. Three examples of the spirit that we need to show in the run in. Now is not the time to throw in the towel, so chin up chaps and sing up loud at the next six matches.
Silly **** - in 1939, one man wanted to change the name of England to Germany - cant remember that many thinking it was a good idea
for the size of the city, we should have spent more than half the last 111 years in the top division. you'd have bent over to welcome adolf in. united states of germany? yes, why not?
Are you for real! Comparing City with Asda/Tescos is laughable. When he calls then Melton Allam Dynamos (MAD) will you still support them? Your post should be directed at the allams/the players/the manager. How can you put in 110%? If you sing, does that mean you sing 10% louder cause as sure as eggs is eggs, you can't sing 10% longer than the song lasts.
Judging by the general style, language, grammar, spelling, phrasing and overall naïve presentation, I would assume the writer to be aged around 12 with delusions about being a sports journalist when he/she grows up despite only getting D minus in English. My advice? We won't tell your dad you have been using his laptop if you stop trying to play with the big boys.
