I always thought he had the talent but lacked the application needed to be a top class player. Good to see he thinks the same and I hope he does get in a position to pass on some of his experience to a new generation so they don't make the same mistakes.
 
Not much more than a one in ten games player for us really. But you could see what the fuss was about in the one.
 
He played 28 times for us and scored eight goals and was our top scorer in the season we had him on loan. Bit better than ‘one in ten games’ don’t you think?

Aye, I suppose he was really! But bloody infuriating. One day bullying Vincent Kompany, the next fannying about like a kid.

Think the article has the answer though. He needed a really tough manager for a decent length of time. Instead, he had a busy Wenger and a succession of loan club managers.
