another case of a club who have lived wildly beyond their means. when you think how many years they spent in the premier league and have nothing to show for it... no new ground, no new training facilities, no advances in youth development etc, it really does show what a mess they made of things, aiming far too high for a club of their stature. sadly, it will be the fans who pay the penalty but too many fans are themselves guilty of wanting success for their club at all costs. maybe the situations at rangers and pompey will change that attitude. i think the majority of supporters at my own club are realistic and are happy with the methodical approach with which the board are running the club, though its doubtful it will be the case at many other clubs who want to reach for the stars but reach them today
100% with you Supers, I may hate the FA but hopefully the new financial fair play regs will see some sense. UNLESS of course they do what they done with Notts County and decide that the backers were so safe that they could ignore the restrictions already in place at the time. Morons
I did some math the other day on the known amount of money spent and recieved by Portsmouth from 2002/2003 season to 2009/2010 season. It came to approximately £125,620,000 spent and £115,920,000 recieved, which makes a loss of £9,700,000 and that's not including wages, bonuses or sell on fees. Which just goes to show you how badly Portsmouth was run in its Premier League days.
add to those figures the fact that most of the players were purchased on an instalment basis and sold outright with money that seemingly disappeared and the problems start becoming more evident. its the greed of individuals that has done it. i think in all honesty every owner since mandaric have seen us as a nice plot of land with a few valuable people standing on it, that will one day make a nice apartment block. yet again the figures have come out and are now showing we owe csi money to repay their investment... its a pretty messed up situation when your own owners are keeping a tab for every thing they spend and expecting it back.
based on last night yes to Pearce NO to Henderson or Ward. Henderson almost let in a shot from JET that my cat could have saved, his kicking was awful and he didn't impress me all evening
Westlake, only heard the radio commentary but from that they said Pearce was brilliant. They also commented Ward was out of position so may be a harsh match to judge him on.
the whole team had a very below par performance tuesday i think lawrence was the only player that put in a decent shift until he went off injured. ward is nothing out of the exceptional but a good solid player that can cover any position on the park, henderson has been spot on all season i think that drop i the first one I've seen and i go to every home game and a few away. pearce is a very solid defender that is rarely beaten, you forget just how young he is when he's playing which can only be a good sign. we didn't deserve anything from the game going by chances made and the performance in general (or lack of) however our disallowed goal should have stood was a clear og.
