.................and I don't mean until the end of the season! We've got a long way to go before we are a good L2 side. On the OS most posters are writing about improvement and give it time. However from what I've seen so far we've got nothing but a season of struggle ahead. When your 'overlapping' FBs are Paterson and Virgo you know something isn't right. I bet Smith was chuffed to have Virgo selected ahead of him. There's comments about Gill coming good...ok, he's trotting now instead of strolling. When I see him tiptoeing around I'm reminded of the dressage at the Olympics! And his ridiculous/hilarious tugging of the opponent's shirt which got him booked! Clarkson hit a superb goal, but when your strikeforce is him, Richards and Harrold ...and that's it.......we're not in for a goalfest. All the opponents I've seen this season (3 pre-season and all home league/cup games) play at a higher tempo, and move into position quicker. There's no urgency about our play; and the running off the ball is dreadful. The pursuit of Constable has wasted time; but if, as reported, we got £300k for Carayol, why hasn't some of that been used? We've got an away game coming up v Gillingham, and soon Plymouth and Exeter away. I can see little to be optimistic about on the horizon.
i seen improvements compared to the morecambe game. but couldnt really get any worse though from that game. im really not sure why virgo was preferred out at rb over smith. im also not sure why w brown is being used as our holding midfielder when his proper position is attacking midfielder. also unsure why we bang the ball up to harrold who wins a good amount of headers etc but there is no one within 20 yards of him to pick up the ball. i think we played well last 10 minutes. we attacked and attacked in this period. maybe it was due to having more balance on the wings. smith came on for virgo and got forward and looked good with richards on the right. paterson went off and l brown went lb and hammer on lw which made us look so much better. someone needs to come in cm and be used as a disley type to get goals and join the forwards. w brown is that type but never gets played in his best position. we need a fox in the box who is fast and gets in the right positions. money that was being used for constable went on parkes transfer. no money left. expect to see a loan striker to come in. mcghee wanted at least 80 goals from our team. we dont even have a quarter of that in us at the moment. if we cant score then make sure we dont concede. however we have conceded 3 vs ipswich, 2 vs oxford, 1 vs barnet, 3 vs morecambe, 3 vs yeovil, 2 vs aldershot which is over 2 goals a game being conceded so we have to score at least 3 to win each game and i cant see this happening. i cant wait for woodards to be fit.
Bloody hell Gillingham and Exeter coming up there scoring for fun we're going to have to play 10 in defence, we must fill our goal net with players so its blocked up.
Let's do a Wycombe, and wait until they are 5 nil up before calling it off for someone farting in the away end, and having to replay it next year
I think we might be up for another bottom half **** season Mcghee will be sacked by x-mas and we will get another nobody in to look after us and guide us to safety. Then the cycle will repeat next season **** sake
we will be fine. after our 8th game we will find our feet and things will just click into place. good luck cheltenham as your up 1st as our 9th game.
I just don't know anymore. Too many false dawns. My heart says we'll dramatically improve and challenge for the playoffs, every other organ in my body says otherwise!
