I was lucky enough to have a lovely comfy seat in the directors box for yesterdays game. There were various Championship club scouts sitting around me (makes sense, lots of Norwich fringe players who may be available for Loan/transfer were on display) and actually right next tom me was a scout from Brighton. I couldn't help but have a sneaky peek at his pad and saw Elliott Bennets name. I'd have thought they'd have known lots about him already? Hope it was just that he was noting the scorers.....
I would hope we wouldn't let him go even if they wanted him. He had an excellent game yesterday, and clearly showed his talent in a Championship level game (although Peterborough were dire), but he is still young and has shown on multiple occasions that he can cut it in the Premier League as well. I'd be shocked if we let him go. On a side note, he's also the only Norwich player on twitter that can use grammar correctly. I'd hate to lose that!
Swap deal? Bennett as a make-weight as part of a move for Bridcutt or CMS? What would people make of that?
I would be pretty disappointed if EB was let go, he has the ability and skill to be a really good player, even at the top level. I just wish we saw more of him but he does have some stiff competition in the squad and it's only going to get more competitive over the course of the next year.
Me too, I'm only posing the question really, there's definitely others I'd rather see go before him. I was just curious if whether the only way to sign CMS or Bridcutt was to lose Bennett, whether people would be happy with the move.
I wouldn't mind that as long as he was going on loan only till the end of the season. He is only young and he has a massive potential. I would be very disapointed if he were let go permanently. A scout can write whatever he likes and he may have just been listing the goalscorers anyway. Just seemed odd to me as he is a player they must know an awful lot about already.
If push came to shove, then I guess I would resign myself to losing him to improve the squad but as you say, there are plenty in front of him I would rather see go.
Surman was effective under Lambert as he could play on the left side of a diamond midfield. He doesn't play width genuine width, which Pilks does on the left and Bennett can - on either flank. Under Hughton's preferred formation, absolutely no contest.
