Afternoon all! A good mate of mine (huge Spurs fan too!) bumped into Younes Kaboul in Tesco's yesterday. Asked him what he thought about AVB, he replied that everyone was fine and happy about it and that AVB has actually already had a meeting with most of the players anyway and things are good. Said he's raring to go for the new season etc. My mate then asked "What's the situation with Luka?" and Younes just laughed and walked away. Giving the impression Luka's a goner. Not massively surprising news but thought I'd share it with ya anyway.
he doesnt want to be the one who gets quoted as the insider spilling the beans..dont blame him...as for the AVB thing i dont think he would say anything negative..however it is good to get further confirmation that the Chelsea players are a set of ****s.
Absolutely Spurlock, my mate said he seemed genuine when asked how the players were with AVB so atleast we know their won't be a "player revolt" like what these jouno tw*ts are going on about.
Always liked Kaboul and he always struck me a genuinely nice guy unlike some of your other players (A few of my mates grew up near Bale and played with him and he apparently has a terrible attitude) Kaboul is a good defender as well lets just hope he does the right thing and leave you lot
Is anyone really worried about Modric leaving? Really? Midfield is where we are strongest. Look who we have, there, ffs! THudd Sandro Parker Livermore Sigurdsson VDV Bale Lennon Rose GDS If someone with AVB's tactical brain cannot work out a decent formation with that lot, then get him out of the club, now! And if we do sell Modric, it's going to bring in £40 million in hard cash for us to spend on two or three more players. It's not as if Moddy set the world alight for us, last season, either. Try as hard as I might, I simply cannot be bothered worrying about Modric leaving. One thing of which I am certain is this: RVP leaving AFC is going to damage them far more than Moddy leaving us.
quite honestly HIAG...i havent been worried at all..we kept Bale...he was the one i wanted...and i totally love VDV...however the Spurs fans know his game and yes a magician he is but many matches he could go missing..he is quite easily replaceable...and so is Modric..Bale though..he is like our RVP <wink>
I agree, that Bale leaving the club would be the worst thing for us. Not just because he is easily our best player, and a truly exciting talent to watch (how many players get you out of your seat when they receive the ball and start running at the opposition?), it's also that he represents the future direction of the club, so that losing him would be a definite backwards step for us. With Moddy leaving, it wouldn't be a backwards step, merely a treading of water until AVB puts the new formation into place (and possibly brings in another creative player).
£35-40m for modric, is daylight robbery. especially if he's going abroad. Great passer of the ball, great vision and scores the odd screamer. that's about it. doesn't score enough (1 in 10), doesn't assist enough, poor shots most of the time, cant take a corner, gets caught in possession. a good player, but massively overrated.
To be honest guys I rate Luka extremely highly. I think without him our midfield is considerably weakened. Admittedly it wasn't his best season last year though I still put him amongst one of the best in his position through out Europe and when he's not been in the team, it's shown big time. No one in our squad comes close to him nor do many on the market that would be available to us. I think losing him will be a massive, massive blow.
You might be correct, if we let him go without reorganising our formation or bringing through other players, either from within the club or from outside. However, I really cannot imagine that Levy would let him go - for any sum of money - unless he had planned his release from the club. In that respect, I don't believe Moddy leaving will be a blow for us, at all. Indeed, it will force us to try something different, and that might lead us to scoring more goals, which is something that, as a team, we haven't done for several seasons.
We've done this one a few times, already. But luca's going where? Poor little Luca might well WANT to get away, but finding somebody who's going to pay Levy's asking price is another matter. Poor little Luca won't be going anywhere unless somebody stumps up £ 40mil+ I suppose that if he really kicks up, then they might sell him slightly cheaper abroad - but again, if the story in The Sun this morning has any credence, then his options are fast running out there too. Poor little Luca may just have to lump it! Unless he wants to go to PSG. In which case, **** the mercenary little tosser, let him go!...
SOS, for 35-40 million, we'll get a better replacement who can offer us some of the qualities Modric doesn't possess. that's a serious amount of money. what about the occasions when he's terrible? when he's bad, he's really really bad.- so much so, you don't even know he's on the pitch half the time.
moutinhio would be a cracking purchase and i think purchasing him is dependent on if Modric goes. who do you want?
meh he looks like Deco...err that is about it. but really i do..but probably the same as you..having watched him in major tournaments he does not seem out of place...watched a few Porto games aswell and has been in some big games in the last few years...was he at Mourinhios Porto aswell? i think he is the type of player that to be honest doesnt grab too many headlines but keeps the midfield ticking over.
I'm glad you've got the optimism mate I really am, personally, Luka's been my favourite player (bar King) for years so I suppose for me, it will be gutting for me to see him go. Maybe i'm just a tad pessimistic on this one but in seriousness, I can't think of many better than Luka that aren't already at a better club. Unless we use the money to change the formation, I doubt there's many, if any to replace him. I certainly don't rate Moutinho (who media are touting as his replacement) as highly as Luka.
haha, I had to do it! I hardly saw him and had barely seen him before.I know very little to be honest. all wiki tells me is that he doesn't score goals either. Modric part deux? except this time we're not paying 16mill, it's going to be more like 25-30m, and he's older than Modric was when we signed him. hmmm...
