Control the controllables. NO negativity. The players need our support. It's in our hands. "Oh when the Saints go marching in, I WANT TO BE IN THAT NUMBER" COYR!
This!! 100%! Haven't negative coz of Friday at all! If we attack like that at Peterborough we will win!
If you are going to Peterboro take your wellies and a big umbrella. Rain is forecast!! And if Middlesboro is your destination take a warm coat as the wind can be rather cold coming off the North Sea at this (or at any time) of the year!
Hopefully the players want it as much as we do! I've often wondered if after losing a game, that they are upset/pissed off as we are or if they see it as just a job?
Friday's game shows we haven't lost it in terms of performance, but does show how things can easily go against you. It's so close, even though we have it in our own hands, so I am still nervous.
And this is exactly the point at which managers are vital in making sure the players understand why things didn't go to plan, learn from their mistakes, and then put it out of their minds so that they are positive and fully focussed on the next game. Or as Nigel put's it, "put that one to bed, draw a line under it and prepare for the next game." When you bear in mind that playing in the Permiership would probably activate clauses in the players contracts which would set them up for life, I am sure that it must hurt a lot to lose.
