Well that's the transfer window shut for us now for 18 months. According to Ally and auld Chico we were hoping to bring in about another six players, but that didn't happen. I'm actually pretty pleased that things panned out like this. I was really hopeful that we could start to bring in the youngsters this season, but as more and more folk seemed to join us I thought the opportunities to play these guys would lessen. Obviously you need experience as you can't play the boys all the time, but I was a bit worried we were starting to look a bit like a mini united nations with some of the guys coming in. To be fair to the new arrivals I had never heard of a lot of them so it's maybe harsh to judge them yet. For me I would rather retain a Scottish identity at the club. As such I'm really pleased that MacLeod and MacKay seem to be getting a crack at it. On the whole I have mainly been delighted with a lot of the signings. I'm really chuffed Templeton joined us. I was really hoping he would join last xmas when there was talk about it then. Sandaza and Shiels would also have been welcomed last year too, can't say I felt the same way about Black, but I'm delighted he's with us now. Big Kyle is looking like our most challenged striker since Ostenstad all the same. I hope I'm proved wrong on that one, but he seems really unfit at the moment. Of the three defenders leaving I feel that big Carlos will be the only one really missed, but it's an excellent opportunity for Ross Perry to show what he can do. My only regret is that the Romanian might return after his loan spell. I'm really glad to see the back of him. Broadfoot was a decent journeyman type who could have done a job for us, but at least he didn't just bugger off like some of the rest so good luck to him. We could have amybe have done with a spare goalkeeper all the same, but I suppose Graham Roberts could be drafted in under freedom of contract if required. To sum up I'm happy with what has happened. In my opinion we have enough decent players to see us through the 18 months and according to Traynor last night we've trimmed off about £10m a year from the wages bill. That allied with the season ticket sales will see us in a very strong position financially over the next few seasons.
It would have been better for us if he had just buggered off. We wouldn't have had to give him a golden handshake to leave.
