I've been very pleased with how Carroll has improved in the last 3 games, I'm not saying he has been world class, but he has majorly improved.

The thing that has impressed me the most about him; His touch. When ever the ball has been played to his feet not only has it stuck, it has been used well, finding players around him and bringing them in to play. His work rate has been immense too, Defending from the front and doing what Bellamy does so well.

He only scored 1 goal but he did set a few up, and with Suarez back it could be the ideal time for Carroll To stamp his place in the first team, and as long as he keeps giving 100% I'll back him all the way. Fans and the media are quick to report when the lad is playing bad, but he needs to get credit when he's playing good.

    Well done Carroll <ok>

he cries alot about anything going against him..seemed desperate yesterday...was almost like its not his fault hes not scoring..its the refs fault or the opposing players...arms in the air..berating the ref.....i think he earnt about 12 quid of the 35 mill in yesterday's match

Nothing wrong with showing a little fight, a lot of players do it!

I'd rather he be appealing for everything rather than keeping his head down and be making no effort whatsoever. He was feeding of scraps yesterday, I didn't think he did to bad considering.

i agree with you there...im not having a pop..i just felt as though he was quite desperate..to be honest had u paid 10 million for him then what he is playing like would be acceptable because if anything hes good in the air..but on the floor he is too slow for the Bellamy's and Suarez's...i think his price tag killed him...not his fault..

as per usual donna the big girls blouse misses the point of a forward standing up for himself. He gave the ref what for and gave his own team mates no room to doubt what service he wanted. he can trot about up top or put himself about. He did the latter and he's improved 100% as a result.

Its a good job you lot didn't get him seeing you got the fabulous no goals in 8 games adebayor who you pay about a 1/3 of his wages, you got 33year old saha who came on.... yup deffo appy arry breathed a sigh of releif wehn we outbid him for andy carroll.

If you had watched Carroll over the last 3 games then I believe that you would have found that he is only now getting over the price tag and re-finding the power and agression that he had.

There's no doubt that he isn't worth 35m and agree there. But I disagree that he's to slow on the floor, I think if he's used right he can do a good job for us with Suarez and Bellamy/Downing either side of him, the boy can play football on the ground but the main problem we have at the moment is we tend to just lump it up to him when there isn't an obvious ball on.

Agree on the points for the last 3 games, BUT there is letting players know what you want and standing up for yourself and then there is constant moaning that can get in the way of your play and affect your teammates. He walks a close line on the latter for me. Yesterday a prime example, he sprayed the ball wide and starts his run into the box, Parker gets in his way, as you should when the big man is coming in. Carroll stopped completely to turn and bitch at the ref........ the ball ended up right at Parker and if Carroll would have played through that would have had a great chance to score around the penalty spot. That is the stuff I really wish he would cut out of his game.

He has improved and I do hope he keeps improving. I missed the Carroll/Gerrard/Suarez on at the same time so no idea how they linked up. Let;s also hope a CC final win will also give Carroll and the team another boost for us to kick on from <ok>

Edit: Or beating United this weekend ( thinking too far ahead there for a sec!)

Thankfully the moaning and whinging is something that can be easily stopped, I wouldn't be surprised if some one has words with him about it <ok>

He has been good in the last 3 games and also seems to be a lot fitter, he closed down the center backs a lot last night.

His work rate was great last night <ok> Shows he wants to be here

One thing you can always say about Carroll, he never let's his head drop, He always shows for the ball and if he misses a good chance, he'll get back in the same position and try again

Agreed. I think the last few games he's been a different player to the one we saw at the start of the season. He's not hit the form he had when he was at Newcastle but slowly getting there.

I do find it frustrating at the amount of times he gets fouled in and around the box when the ball is in the air yet gets nothing. It's the same for most big forward, it seems defenders can do what ever they like to them but any slight touch back and it's a free kick. Crouch has the same problem.

The lad's done alright in the last few games - showing good work rate that was at times lacking in previous matches.

Now we can focus on the main problem which lies out wide: At least Kuyt is scoring again but he had another woeful night yesterday, and Downing has got to be the most frustrating winger ever.

too right! every single game is the same, he will be fouled several times yet the ref will give nothing. The opposite is also true, as soon as carroll so much as leans on a defender then he is penalised whether it is a foul or not. I understand why the refs do it, we are programmed to think that big blokes are tough and little blokes aren't so any coming together between the two will always be a foul against the big guy.

Just another thing in the long list of what refs need to sort out in their minds.

The obvious thing on top of all that has been said is that he seems to be getting himself into goal scoring positions more often. That for a striker is key, it what makes Darren Bent effective, he misses all the time but he is in the right place so once in every 5 or so it bounces off him and goes in.

Carroll had what 3 chances yesterday? two headers and that volley? Compare that to a few weeks ago when he wasn't even there to miss.

This fact coupled with his much improved over all game should see him getting a lot more goals before the season is up.

ps - Carroll really isn't slow, rather not quick off the block, give him a couple of yards and he has a good speed on him.

The problem though for a striker who's being asked to play right up on the centre backs is that you're rarely going to get the chance to get up to full speed.

The fact is that as with any striker, goals breed confidence by the bucket load and I still think if he can get a run of games going where he's popping a few in then we will see a different player.

I think all we ask as fans is that he contributes 100% in terms of work rate and even if he never bangs in 20 goals a season that he will contribute to the teams overall performance in a positive way is what will bring him the most support from us <ok>

100% Agree <ok> Kuyt can be so frustrating at times, and he wont get you 20 goals every season. But he has given it everything in a Liverpool shirt and has never not rolled up his sleeves when required. That's the main reason most Liverpool fans have taken to him so much

Yeah and it's why Crouch always got a lot of support even though he wasn't scoring <ok> I'm not sure if it will happen but if Carroll does come good it will be great to shove it back down the throats of some of the planks on here who've been ripping him with such gusto <laugh>
