Seriously they have stated they have a case. You'd have to assume a pretty strong one given the high profile nature of something like this blowing up in their face. The grooming side of things gives it a really sickly edge. I suppose you never know, they may have twisted his circumstances to fit the charges, or he could just be a proper dirty little ****. Time will tell.

Sunderland will have to suspend him again I suppose but then he is still not guilty at present?

CPS have to have a really strong prima facie case before progressing to a formal prosecution.

This is one of the fundamentals if I remember rightly with my Law Degree.

I don't think you can call out the Mackems for cheering him on against us they were just giving support to a player who was up against it. Pretty sure we would have done the same.

The guy is a total tool if any of this is true and deserves everything he gets.

If he's found innocent I hope people are able to leave him alone. I somehow doubt it.

 

His plea will be the biggest indication of his situation. If he pleads innocent then grooming charge chances are it will be down to circumstantial evidence and it's a case of the CP being confident of convincing a jury. lets face it, nobody is going to plead innocent against rock solid evidence knowing it guaranty them max sentence. The grooming charge suggests he shagged her. He's in a world of ****, all down to him convincing a jury he didn't know her age I reckon. The ****ing piss head needs to learn to keep his dick in his pants. ****ing idiot. The club are stupid too, no statement yet, U turning on the suspension when they should have kept it in place. ****ing mess mate.

The grooming charge suggests to me that he has not just bumped into her in a nightclub and made a stupid mistake. Grooming suggests he knew fine well how old she was. Or at least he knew her before shagging her. Also to take it as far as charging him that means there is credible evidence that he has shagged her and he knew her age. I.e semen samples. Phone messages etc.

 

The grooming charge suggests to me that he has been texting her, contacting her through social media sites, etc.

If so, there will be physical records of him doing so.

A 'realistic prospect of conviction' - That's what I remember from mine. It would suggest to me that there is very strong evidence, probably social media/ phone messages that go way beyond mere 'friendship.' The grooming charge under s15A Sexual Offences Act would suggest that Johnson knew exactly how old she was and was openly flirting/ being explicit with her. Of course, innocent until proven guilty, but the grooming charge is the killer here.
