    3rd July

1999 - Sunderland signed former England defender Steve Bould from Arsenal for £400,000

    But more importantly.

2006 - A consortium led by former player Niall Quinn bought Sunderland for £10 million. Quinn replaced Bob Murray as chairman.

Club has never looked back since, and rising steadily, and now in good shape.

    How good was Bould though!

He was 136 years old, and still bossed it, best defender in my lifetime at the club!
