Most of you know that James Brent has a few fans who wish that he he would clear off. Well it can get worse than that I can assure you. There is open warfare broken out down Charlton Athletic.......thousands of supporters don't like the direction the club is taking under Belgian owner Roland Duchatelet. He has just appointed the FIFTH new manager in only 22 months....since Chris Powell got the chop. Riga.....2 months Peeters.....8 months Luzon.....9 months Fraeye.....3 months ....and today he has brought back Riga again ? My son refuses to go down there at the moment with my grandson ( a very proud mascot last season) because he feels it isn't safe to take a ten year old into that situation.....still 15000 turning up and it can get a bit volatile. Of course the team is in free fall...second from the bottom....with a minus 26 goal deficit. I have been been baiting my grandson with ..."wait till next season when we will be playing you in Div 1". I've stopped doing that now....it can get a little hard for a ten year old to take the banter with a smile so we stay off mentioning CAFC at the moment. It seems that Roland Duchatelet has completely underestimated the level of football in the Championship......and the Belgian managers that he has brought in are not up to the task....yet he brings one of them back again. Better the James Brent we know than a situation like down at the valley at present.
Didn't realise it was that bad up there. It is ridiculous to think changing a manager after such a short period would have the desired impact-at best you might get a short new manager 'bounce' but then it normally reverts to normal. I would think you need at least a full season if not two to really build a team-seems to me it is more a case of poor appointing by the owner rather than bad football managers.
It's called panic and not understanding the league you are in. I think there are plenty who don't understand the money it takes even to stay in that league. Very few clubs could manage financially with the wages required long term to maintain a decent challenge without an owner willing to part with hard cash.
