Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to conduct a major clear-out at the Emirates Stadium this summer after seeing his side notch up a sixth consecutive season without silverware. Those facing the axe are include under performing first team starters as well as squad players who have failed to impress the Gunners boss.

Wenger will listen to offers for French left back Gael Clichy who will have only one year left on his current contract when the season comes to an end and appears no nearer to agreeing a new deal. The 25 year old defender was dropped for Sunday’s game with Stoke City and ready made replacement Kieran Gibbs will take his spot, although some sources suggest that Arsenal may also be interested in Everton’s Leighton Baines.

Russian Andrei Arshavin was hauled off at half-time at the Britannia Stadium after another uninspiring display and the former Zenit St Petersburg man may be sold if an acceptable bid is made for the attacking midfielder. There has been talk recently of a possible return to Russia for the 29 year old.

Others facing the axe are fumbling keeper Manuel Almunia, utility man Emmanuel Eboue whilst Sebastien Squillaci looks likely to be offloaded after a series of poor performances displayed that the French international has failed to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Inconsistent midfielders Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky are also on Wenger’s outgoing list after one to many abject displays but strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Marouane Chamakh will apparently be given the chance to prove themselves to Wenger and may be spared as Arsene Wenger looks to cull players from his Arsenal squad ahead of significant transfer moves in the summer

We shouldnt be getting anyones rejects really unless they have a point to prove and are willing to play for Sunderland.

Wenger has the best system for discovering players and bringing up youth and I feel we should follow, **** all these Spurs & Arsenal rejects we keep getting linked with

Diaby is class, would be mint playing the box to box midfielder role for us similar to what Yaya Toure does at City.

Don't think we could get many of the others and wouldn't want Bendtner and/or Chamakh
