Annan v Cowdenbeath this Saturday. This one will be a bit strange as I'll be travelling up and back with one of my Charlton mates, he gets off at Preston then I meet him for the match report on the way home. Good old VirginTrains got me up there for £30 return, happy days.
Last night I attended an absolutely magnificent game of football: Grays Athletic 3 Canvey Island 6. It was only 0-1 at half-time, and the scoring was completed by the 70th minute, meaning 8 (yes, eight!) goals were scored inside the first 25 minutes of the restart - and Canvey missed a penalty during that mad period! Grays' player-manager, former Charlton boy Jamie Stuart, looked utterly dejected after being given the runaround all night by Canvey's diminutive playmaker Mitch Gilbey. A nice little ground is Parkside. Decent atmosphere, nice coffee, lovely chips, and just £10 to watch a cracker of a match. Who needs Karl Robinson and Joe Dodo, eh?
I have been in there. Have you ever been to the Victory Cafe to the left of that one? If not, my advice is not to. It was my traditional breakfast haunt prior to a trip up North. The sausages hark from the Edwardian era.
Both Altrincham and Ramsbottom United are at home tonight. Perhaps Mr van Gerwen would like to contribute another game to this increasingly popular thread.
Maidstone vs. Bromley tonight. Might take a drive over to there to watch it. Although given my recent run in with pneumonia I’m pretty sure it’s not advisable.
Mr van Gerwen, with you being up in Manchester have you not indulged in a bit of football? Or could you not drag yourself away from Chorlton Street?
Had a very unpleasant experience at Manchester Piccadilly - enjoying a smoke and a coffee a beggar asked me for a sip Of my coffee as he had a “dry mouth” - I said can you come back in 5 mins knowing full well I would be on the train by then !
Virgin Penolino back to Euston was absolutely packed - the only consolation was that you were not on it.
