I am going to Krakow the weekend of the 24th November. Cracovia v Wroclaw is scheduled and I am looking to go to the game. I have been on their website and they are saying that you have to have a season ticket/have Fan ID, and that they do not sell matches for individual games. Has anybody had recent experience of games out there and can advise on how hard it is to get tickets?
Did Merthyr v Dartford on the August bank holiday in '89. It was the non-league equivalent of the charity shield. Both teams had won trophies the previous season.
Your best bet is to visit the ticket office the day before so that you can be issued with a photo-validated ticket - just make sure you have your passport with you. If time is tight, the lovely girls in the tourist office (just off the main square) should be able to check and fax your credentials over to Cracovia, who will organise tickets to be picked up from the ticket office on the day of the game. Polish football is heavily policed for good reason, but you won't regret attending a match over there; the atmospheres for the big games are electrifying.
I gather the ground is only about 10 minutes walk from the main square so I'll probably take a stroll over there in the morning. The fixtures do not normally get moved around until about a month before the scheduled round of games, I'm hoping for a Saturday night game. Do they produce programmes?
Not forgetting the badges of course. I'll be off to Sweden in September so that will be another three matches missed
I'd say it's more like 15-20 minutes walk from the western barbican of Planty (the outer wall walk) to Wisla's stadium. It's another 10 minutes from there to Cracovia's ground. They do sell programmes for the bigger matches, I'm sure of that. Have you organised a hotel yet? I always stay at the magnificent Polski Pod on Pijarska; it serves the most wondrous breakfast and is just five minutes from the main square. And there's a popular strip club nearby.
Disappointed in you @Ponders Revisited - had you down as a True Patriot, like me. None of this foreign muck
Tomorrow sees my first game of the season, off to Eastbourne to see our U23's. I saw Welling play there about 25 years ago but this a new one with Charlton.
My ground hopping took me to Moscow.. Sadly it didn’t see an England win but I had a fantastic time.. Moscow was fantastic and I would look at going back to have a more leisurely look.. Elf I have a program for you...
You did not come across men in black t-shirts and shorts hopefully. How did you get on with a match ticket?
I had one before I made the trip.. I had mates that were there the whole way through and when the Germans were knocked out tickets and rooms were freely available for a day or two...
