He’s back at Bristol Rovers next Saturday, & I think we can all predict what “the Purple Knob” will be singing #JustSellTheClub #FvckOffPurple
Shoreham off. Stuck in Brighton waiting to see if St Francis Rangers and Crawley Down Gatwick are on.
A 10am pitch inspection resulted in Shoreham being called off, this being my chosen game. I then was left with waiting on two pitch inspections to see if I was going to get a game in. Fortunately Brighton is a great place so at least I spent a pleasant couple of hours there waiting to see what my day held for me. St Francis Rangers v Midhurst Easebourne managed to get their game on so I headed off to a very bland and dull Haywards Heath. This ground was one of the more bizarre ones I have been to. You enter on the grounds of an hospital and go through a maze of a development of properties around 10 years old. SFR play in the second division of the Sussex League so this level is not the greatest(I might even get a game). The game ended 1-0 to the home side, I was pleased with as they managed a win to reward their efforts in staging the game. The attendance was a meagre 15, this beat my previous lowest of around 22 for Sporting Bengal v Lordswood in around 2007.
Lancing v Loxwood in the Sussex League for today's entertainment. Originally Ponders and me were going to do Eastbourne United v Eastbourne Town, but we thought better of it due to the numerous postponements and the atrocious weather forecast for today. Lancing have a 3G pitch so there are no concerns that this 11.00 k/o will not go ahead.
I went to Maidstone vs Hartlepool. Was soo rainy but Maidstone turned out 2,994 on Good Friday. Good noise, good game. Hartlepool got the win, only because the stones have sold all their strikers.
Yesterday saw me do a double header. The Sussex League always have their games start at 11am on an Easter Monday. With the atrocious weather I set off for Lancing v Loxwood as they have a 3G pitch so I knew I was good for football. On getting to the ground I bumped into a hopper from Leicester. We got talking and he was very clued up, he told me that Worthing United were playing at home with a 15.00 kick off BUT they were having a pitch inspection. The good thing was that they would move their game to Steyning, this was only 20 minutes away from Lancing. I eyed on an opportunity and I asked my new friend if I could tag along, he saw that I was a decent fella and said yes. I then enjoyed a 4-1 home victory, played in rain throughout which would have normally seen games called off. Given the level I was watching it was interesting to note that the game was played on the floor and there was no hoofing up the field, a cracking game. Then on to Worthing United v East Preston................
30 minutes after the Lancing game finished we were at Worthing United v East Preston, played at Steyning FC's ground in Steyning, five miles outside of Worthing. Another 3G pitch but this was a cracking little ground, very quirky with the stands along one side. East Preston cantered it to a 4-0 away win, and so another tick for me, but I will still have to go to Worthing United as even though this was a home game, moved to here due to the weather, I will still have to go back their ground. I wish Dushitelet could keep hold of us for another year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great stuff Elf’s, you will miss this next season when you are back to travelling to the likes of Forest, West Brom and QPR with Lee Bowyer’s Army. Did you see Don’s six bedroomed mansion whilst down there ? He lives in Sussex I believe ...he spends so much time cleaning the windows he never posts on here
The protest moves on to Hemel Hempstead today. Leverstock Green v London Colney in the Spartan South Midlands League.
