I agree, cos sitting doing **** all & getting money for it just makes you lazier, so if you're working for the ****ty benefit it might make you look harder for decent paid work.
I had an idea which I call "Work Farms": local sites where those claiming benefits have to attend Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm. Failure to do so or arriving late on a given day would result in a loss of 20% of that weeks benefits. Local businesses, a factory that needs a couple more people to pack boxes for example, would arrive at the Work Farm to sellect people to do a days work. The Work Farm would contain various industrial units where people could be set to work on projects to manufacture items for local businesses with their management present or to do community work, sorting recycling for example. Each person attending the Work Farm would be excused work duties for 1 or 2 hours per week and be supervised on a one to one basis to review their job-search results and to help them apply for any suitable jobs. There would be a huge creche/nursery so that benefit claiming parents would also have to attend whether actively seeking work or not. A couple more ideas: Social housing for workers, social hostels for the unemployed. Long term unemployed people should be moved from their social housing to hostels so that low-paid workers who can't afford to buy or rent a house could be given decent homes. Mass-sterilisation. All teenage girls to be fitted with contraceptive implants which would only be removed once they could demonstrate the means to support a family: ã5,000 of savings and either they or their partner work for a living.
Just enforce sterilisation en masse - can you imagine the general inhumanity and compromises to the general good, if -for instance, 'stereo' was allowed to raise children?
Yeah, great ideas However people with jobs, like myself, can't get higher paid jobs due to lack of experience. So people who haven't worked have no chance. No doubt there are people who prefer benefits. However employers need to give people without experience a chance. There is a reason youth unemployment is so high
