    is what we need.

Anyone any ideas? I know a lot of posters are wary of starting a thread of their own lest they be abused, so this is an opportunity for the shy posters, what do YOU want to talk about?

I may know very little on just about everything but i'm still happy to offer an opinion anyway so let's have it.

    Let's talk about books.

I avoid reading non-fiction books written by women - because I think they are too subjective and just generally lack that intellectual oomph. Controversial, I know, but every time I give another woman author a chance the book is ****e, and the bias gets more and more engrained.

I don't think i've ever read a non fiction book written by a woman? How strange I never thought about it. Mind you not many women write books about War.

Never read it but I recall the time they did a musical version in London's West End (true story), apparently it was so bad that when the Nazis first show up on stage someone in the audience shouted out "She's in the attic".

<laugh> I had a boss once who used to say "that ****'s about as much use as Anne Frank's drum kit" all the time. I think he got sacked once they brought in all the equal opportunities and discrimination laws.....

    Let's still talk about books.

I've already told this story on chatbox, but I'll tell it again. The best book (maybe) I've read in the last couple of years is The Conspiracy Against The Human Race which I've quoted excerpt a few times on here. I've read it 4 times which I think is a personal record. When watching the HBO show True Detective I realised that Matthew McConaughey's character had a very similar philosophy to the nihalistic philosophy of the book, with some of his lines seeming like direct quotes from the book.

I Googled 'True Detective Thomas Ligotti' the other night on the hunch and got very excited when I found an interview with the producer in which he basically admitted that he was inspired by Ligotti's little known book. In my excitement I tried to think of someone to tell about the connection - then realised that absolutely nobody else cares. Disappointing.

Is it available on e-books Mick? I'm looking for something to read just now so I may give it a bash. It's not too dry is it?
