Blimey, what a night! Instead of basking in the glow of a fine win, I spent the best part of the later hours and early morning shipping Mrs Ponders' family out of Tottenham, Bruce Grove and the fringes of Wood Green.

I managed to skirt the High Roads, but still had to avoid missiles and fires as I rescued terrified family members and their pets. We have a full house today and the roast pork has been spread very thin.

It is only now as I watch the news that I realise what I was heading into.

    A lucky escape, indeed. Phew!

Looking at the news from over in France it seems awful. Thought we had put ll of that behind us. How wrong can you be. Hope your family are able to safely return home Ponders.

Thank you for all the kind messages, guys. They are much appreciated.

We thought we would be safe two miles away in this manor, but the trouble is now on our flank up in Enfield Town. I have some family up there too, so I shall be watching developments closely.

    Fingers crossed, methinks.

Shocking scenes, I lived around there 20 years ago, and remember walking down the High Road last January when we played Spurs in the cup. I wonder what Spurs will make of it, it'll hardly encourage them to stay in the area?

    Thank you, guys.

We are listening to the helicoptors, police vans and rioters getting closer and closer. We have it on all sides now. There is very little in Ponders End worth looting, so that may re-route some of the trouble. But the atmosphere is highly charged and the black people are grouping up all over the place and marching out on the streets.
The block of flats opposite Allied Carpets on Tottenham High Road is where my aunt and uncle live, and was set on fire last night. They don't know whether they will have anything to go back to yet, because the police have cordoned off and evacuated the whole area.

It is bad times north of the river.

AllHell, you are right, I need to get back down south. I was brought up in Thamesmead and thought that was bad...
