I don't know if any of you watched Newsnight last night. Needless to say, it was coverage of the convicts getting grilled over the phone hacking scandal. It was wonderful seeing the Maxwell scum squirming as they were put through the grinder. Daddy Maxwell was feigning dementia and baby Maxwell kept shooting himself in the foot every time he opened his vile mouth. Brooks just the same. The coppers got some well-deserved stick too. It must never be forgotten that the Murdoch empire owns the filthy rag that printed the terrible lies about Hillsborough, and undoubtedly condoned it. This caused untold pain to the families, friends and supporters of the 96. It would be too much to hope that this whole affair will bring them down. However, as the T shirts on sale in the Hillsborough Support shop say "One down, one to go". I for one certainly hope so. It's about time those bastards got what they deserved. RIP the 96
I completely agree. It's not just the Hillsborough comments though; if The Sun, The Sunday Times and The News of the World have all been caught for some sort of phone hacking charges, then surely it must have come from someone above all of the individual papers to sanction it. Something on the scale of phone hacking will have been sanctioned by a Murdoch family member, so I hold him directly responsible for invading the privacy, disrespecting the dead and slowing down the grieving process of so many families. Secondly, if he once owned a paper that encaptured 43% of the UK's paper reading idiots then he's controlling a huge portion of the nation's opinions. Let's face it, the only people who read The Sun and The News of the World are the (at the risk of sounding pompous) lower class idiots in their council houses, who think they have class because they're reading the paper. That's the type of people his newspapers are appealing to, which leads you to wonder, since they make up such a large part of the population - then has it just been Murdoch's plan to control not just the media, but the way the government is run too? Therefore he is just as much responsible for David Cameron's cuts, as David Cameron is.
Ze. Though it pales into insignificance with respect to what's written above, it's my view that Sky was the prinicipal factor in taking football to the sorry state it's in now, where money is the main ruling factor damaging the game so much.
I agree, although it would happen eventually anyway. There's too much money in the game even before Sky, for any TV corporations to miss out on the opportunity. Even though Sky is the problem, I don't think Sky is the solution.
I watched it live. I dunno if they got away with it or not. The clown with the pie did nobody except Murdoch any favours, really. He's an old man who got hit in the face. To some Murdoch haters that's great but to some middle-of-the-roads (who are the opinions that matter) it's out of order and unnecessary. Everybody seems to be talking about Murdoch's brave vigilante mrs now. So yeah, great contribution, clown.
General. You're absolutely right about that. Not that I'm bothered, but what sort of carp security allowed that to happen? Back to Newsnight, I reckon Paxman must be on holiday. This is made for him. Gavin Essler is OK, but nowhere near as ferocious as Paxers!
