I noticed a lot of random threads on the board this weekend about things like Elvis's ****ty pants, the best website for old farts to moan and talk **** on, and the meaning of life itself. To get back on track with the football I was thinking that I have been pleasantly surprised by our start to the season, being sceptical about Bruces appointment originally. The signings of Quinn, Aluko and Elmo look like they could reap dividends for us. Little Bruce is also proving a steady performer despite worries that he was maybe a bit ****. Simpson looks like the player that banged in goals for QPR and was rated very highly at the Gunners. Proschwitz is the only real disappointment for me given the money spent, but there is time for him to learn what football over here is about given the form of our strikers with the shirt. It's good to be proven wrong with your expectations and although it's early days yet, and I'm not that impressed with Stan Ternent being appointed to the club in any capacity, things are looking up for me. UTT!

Aye, the level of football talk on this board is deteriorating to the likes of ****-stained pants because we have nothing to moan about for a change.

Personally can't wait for the games to start again, am not that bothered watching England anymore. The most exciting thing for me at the moment is that we look like we have service to the strikers at last after a few seasons where you are looking for the likes of Koren to nick the game for you or banking on one-nil wins.

    It's Alex Bruce's fault.

I think it's been a very good start to the season, I'm very pleased with how solid we've defended considering the new formation, new players and young keeper. And with Simmo on form and Quinn/Aluko/Elmo looking good i'm hoping we can have a very strong september. Just hope Proschwitz can find his feet soon, and then with Fryatt back in the fold soon we should have a fairly potent strikeforce.
Dare I say things are looking good?

I was worried about SB and his talk of direct play. Now I cannot wait for the next match.

Sorrry for spoiling the party everyone but two weeks ago i got home from Tenerife we had played 3 games 2 away 1 at home and taken 4pts which i thought was an ok start nothing brilliant but not terrible in fact i would call it a steady start, the following home game my first match we played brilliant and beat Bolton 3.1. after the game i went on the forums one said Bruce out can you believe 2 0r 3 games gone and it was Bruce out beat Bolton and it was great signings and what was i worrying about, thats the high and low of a typical football fan. The point i am trying to make is lets see how we go over the first ten games before we judge the side and in the mean time get behind the tigers but try not to get to high or to low just keep up the support, up the tigers

We do look very solid, I was fairly skeptical about this 3-5-2 formation, I thought it might leave us vulnerable in defence but it's looked pretty fooking brilliant IMO. We're finally looking like a side that wants to attack instead of getting it into the oppositions half and deciding to play it back to our defence...

Simpson looks sharp and it's weird that we've actually got a dilemma about strikers. This dilemma became one to cherish last Season and now it looks as though big Nick may have pushed the determination of Simpson up a notch and made him go out there with a point to prove.

Our midfield looks more than capable of controlling a game, Quinn played fantastic, what a bargain he was. I'm not normally optimistic about our finishing position but I have become rather optimistic about what we could actually achieve this Season.

A quick mention for Aluko too. Absolutely amazing player, he's the sort of player you would want as a manager, if the ball isn't going up the field, he runs back, collects it, plays a 1 - 2, and get's the ball in a great position. He knows what he's doing and will be our catalyst this Season. Fingers crossed he doesn't get injured!

I think 7 points from the teams we've had to play is brilliant. 10 games will give a better indication on the season ahead.

I like the O/T threads, we need them to break up the monotony of threads dedicated to formations and team selections.

    They just become a blur of 4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 - 4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 34-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 --5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1 -4-4-2 - 3-5-2 - 4-5-1

It can get incredibly boring and repetitive sometimes.

I consider the O/Ts to be an outlet to having to think 100% about Hull City. The doom and gloom of it one day, and then rabid enthusiasm the next. At the end of the day, all we can do is watch.

The more I think about possible team selections, tactics and formations, the more I end up thinking about Alex Bruce starting and being sick all day. This is something I wish to avoid. It's nauseating, literally.

What I'm saying, is that the O/T threads are normally a nice distraction which are normally amusing, and they allow one to get to know other posters a bit better.

    IMO!

I wasn't having a pop at the O/T threads, I find them quite amusing and also kind of sociable in the sense that we discuss random happenings and personal stories as opposed to limiting ourselves to only football.

Having said that, we do seem to have a 80/20 O/T to Hull City going on right now.
Then again, it's the international break.

I really have to stop arguing both sides against myself, don't I?

We are finally putting together a team that will have the opposition worrying about various players.

    Look at the midfield/wingbacks:

    Elmohamady, Aluko, Quinn, Koren

All four will need to be watched by the opposition..

We have a strong back three which will be even better when Hobbs returns (Bruce giving way).

Amos has looked very solid IMO. Dudgeon is playing really well. I wouldn't mind seeing Reo-Coker come in as a strong midfielder.

If Simpson continues to play at his current level he will cause problems and we still have Fryatt to come back and Proschwitz to find his feet.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more signings come in as well.

I'm a happy tiger looking forward to collecting my £330 from SkyBet.

The team seems to be coming together nicely, and there are some exciting prospects with Aluko looking particulaly good. A couple of more additions in the right areas, and we will have a very good squad that has a good chance to be challenging for a top two finish.

The problem is this Interantional break, just as momentum starts kicking in we have to stop, it's like going down Beverley Road & hitting every light on red!
As for the start that we've had, the Bolton game seems to have got everyone on side & no moaning, but all it takes is a loss to a team that WE think they should beat & it'll be back to Bruce out again! After about 10 games we should see how our season's going to pan out, Millwall & Leeds are huge games coming up!
