Forget transfer fees. They mean nothing. You need to look at the cost of the whole deal and staged payments, plus agent fees. e.g. Fraizer Campbell - £600k plus his Dad's fee. Bargain, even if the fee is paid up front. However, the whole deal will probably cost around £12 million over 5 years. Maybe not such a good deal when you think he will be finished in three years. Nick Proschwitz will not cost Hull City anything like the headline figure you quote, and including his salary will probably present good value before he moves on. The cost of the Cucumber Pickers' deals you mention will be phenomenal by comparison and the cummulative cost to English football will be devastating.
