Lovely morning here. Hoping, as ever, to make it perfect with 3 points to make everyone's trip worthwhile. Not so fussed about repeating the 3-0 back in April, 1-0 or 2-1 will do nicely. C-O-Y-W !!!
Morning Gera, Glad to hear all is well on the road and here's hoping that we get the 3 points today. Sunderland are seemingly erratic this season at home. One win, 2 draws and 2 losses ( albeit to Chelsea and Newcastle ), so we should feel confident going there. Sessegnon and Bentner are the goal scorers, they have also scored late on in the last few games and we have a terrible record of conceding late on, 33% of goals conceded have been in the last 15 mins. Etuhu seems like starting, Sidders had a hernia operation during the break so may not be fit. The big man has to be carefully to not gve away too many free kicks with Larsson around who is lethal from set plays. We are improving game on game recently and have goals in us. I hope that MJ plays Ruiz for 90 mins especially as AJ may not be fit yet. That said he played for Costa Rica against Spain on Tuesday in Costa Rica so he may be a bit knackered. Still waiting for Demps to really dominate a game. I think we every chance to get something out of this game. Keep the Not 606 flag flying and enjoy the game. 1 - 2 COYW
Larsson is suspended Froggy Bruce is getting a lot of stick from their fans - unlike BMJ he's had 3 years and about 20 of his own choice recruits - some of them pretty expensive. Fingers crossed, hope Deuce has a big game and Ruiz to do some supplying work
Dempsey etc had some opportunities to make it a glorious day, but we just didn't have what it takes to do the job. Actually, the glory would have been worked free kick leaving Baird with a difficult chance. Thanks to Schwartzer, we kept a point, but could have had three if we had applied ourselves. Last on MOTD no doubt.
Thanks Gera, good summary. Was watching it online. What do you think of the team setup? Too heavy at the back?
Well done for making the trip Gera. Usually I moan about being last on MOTD but the only 0-0 in a day full of goals you can't really argue with that!
The answer, Madness, was yes. We had 4 centre backs (albeit counting Chris Baird) - Kelly recovering from injury, Riise's wife in labour, Briggs not 100% plus the injured Grygera. Sunderland had a few chances but we coped reasonably well, sitting in front of the excellent Schwartzer. The issue was the impact playing out of defence, where we did not flow quickly enough.
