    Ward-prowse
    Doble
    Hoskins
    Reeves
    Stephens

Having these youngsters take to the pitch & get a result really is something special. Very proud of them yesterday, although I must say, a cup run is not top of the priorities this season, feel really happy for the lads. If just a couple of them become regulars over the next 18 months then the academy have done really well (again). Maybe a journey past round four woundn't be so bad.Up the youngster Saints.

Ergh blue writing, oooh and red :) . Doble+ Hoskins won't make it imo. Rest will, we have plenty of other youngsters so the future is looking bright <ok>

Just nice to see them in the first team. A lot of teams fringe players are just players that can't get in the first team, players who've slipped down the pecking order.
But yesterday was a very pleasing run out. I'm under no illusions they will all make it, just very proud to see so many blooded. Sorry about the blue, it was a typo, if thats what I can call hitting the wrong button! <laugh>

Agree, all will make it except Doble. He was woeful and has no main threat at all! Didn't outpace anyone, didn't win anything in the air, and was muscled off the ball all the time. Woeful. My Oxford mate thinks he is shocking too.

In an article in the Sunday Mail in November, a Saints coach (can't remember his name) likened our present Academy squad to the great United team (Beckham, Scholes, Neville brothers etc) who came through together.

I think calling doble woeful is harsh. He was completely isolated up top and would've benefited if he was played alongside a tall target man to work off. I've seen him a few times and he's a bit like connely in the fact that he has great movement and works hard it just didn't work for him on sat. After all you don't get selected for the Wales national team if you're crap do ya!?

The problem is with the 5 sub rule it is a lot harder for youth players to be brought through

Don't think Doble will make it with us. He's nearly 21 and I'd be expecting him to be making more of an impact by now if he was going to make it with us. Give Hoskins a bit longer as strikers can turn very good between 18 and 21. Ipswich must be kicking themselves for letting Jordan Rhodes go.

Looks like Adkins really likes Ward-Prowse, which is good.

Great to see some good youngsters coming through - we also have another 3/4 who weren't involved at Coventry so its all looking good if you ask me!

Adkins could have so easily of played Holmes and Forte Saturday and no one would have questioned the selection, but I think it was right that these young lads were given a chance and our fringe players who whatever our personal opinions maybe don't have a long term future at the club were left out as they have been unable to impress during previous attempts.

Nigel has said before that until you give the lads the chance you'll never know how they'll react in a competitive match infront of large crowd. Some can show it in training and freeze on match days whilst others can look ok in training yet under pressure exhibit that coolness and decision making which makes a great player.

I was not at the game to pass comment but sounds like a couple can make it here. I will try and get to london for rd 4.

JWP is a future star. I thought he looked good before he scored. Great day out after much doubting.
