3 games in a week, something like 10 games in 5 weeks, with an ever depleted squad finally took its toll yesterday and We ended up looking a little leggy at the end. We worked our socks off yesterday and although we didn't deserve a win, a draw would have been just reward. A defeat right at the death was tough to take. However, Arsenal are still a class act and 3 substitutions won it for them. We gave their keeper as much to think about as they did ours, although they had a lot of possession. We now have a weeks rest whilst they have a tough midweek game so its role reversal for the cup game next Saturday. I saw nothing yesterday to make me any less convinced that we can win next week. Will they play van persie 3 times in a week even though if hardly got a kick? Their so called wonder kids on the wings were both poor and replaced and without rosicky pulling the strings they are very beatable imo. Good effort lads and heres to the Wembley trail rolling on next Saturday. Que Sera Sera and all that stuff.
Not seen the game Cest but think your right about a game to far 5 games in 2 weeks with a depleted squad, think we'll get revenge next week. Can't win them all.
We put a hell of a shift in froggy and gave them something to think about. Their keeper was equally as busy as ours but they had better options coming off the bench and that's what did for us. Upwards and onwards and the FA Cup next week.
the players look exhaused at the end i hope they take a break... while arsenal have to play a full strength side against AC milan and come back to the SOL knackered and lose
Spot on. The encouraging thing for me was the committment we showed, under SB we would have rolled over and got humped, but under MON we look stronger and it's blatantly evident that there's a belief running through the team. If not for the punishing schedule of recent weeks and a depleated squad, i reckon we'd have won that game. We needed catts in the middle and hands up, i never thought i'd ever say that but we did miss him yesterday.
I watched it in full last night and whilst the end result was disappointing, it shows we continue to progress . Fancy, being disappointed we didn't win against The Arsenal ! In fact I watched two games last night !
Spot on Anderson !!! Thats exactly what we are doing...progressing..something we saw very little of under the previous administration. Iam not too unduly worried by yersterdays result, I thought we worked our arses off and for me it was the fatgue that caught up with us.Hopefully we have a few back next week and some of the pressure can be taken of the lads. Any news on Catts and Killa, ive heard theyve both returned to training ?
In the end it boiled down to taking opportunities that were presented...Shortly before they scored we had a cracking chance which Gi fluffed: the rest is now history...Let's hope we can change this round next week following their mid week game..
I think MON made a slight mistake in not putting Meyler on with 15-20 mins to go. I could see Larsson and Mclean had run themselves into the ground, as had most of the team to be fair! Those fresh legs may just have made the difference to us getting a point at least. And I would definitely put Westwood (or Gordon?) in next week as Mig's distribution made me think he was an Arsenal fan! But hey ho you can't win them all and as I said on another thread last night if we have to lose it's no disgrace to be beaten by Arsenal. I knew as soon as Thierry Henry came on he would score against us, but it seemed fitting to get his last premier league goal on his last appearance (probably) for his beloved Arsenal. You can tell he is not just a player but a true fan and you have to love him for that.
Spot on Cest. I saw enough yesterday to think we can win next Saturday. Far better to lose when the Lads have battled all match and given them something to think about. Rather than roll over and be spanked. 5-0 anyone?
Lets hope we bounce back with a win next week Since MoN has came in when we have lost we have bounced back and picked up a win We lost at Spurs then went and won at QPR, we lost at Chelsea then won 2-0 against Swansea lets just hope we continue with this pattern and win next week. I totally agree that it was a game to far and the fresh legs of the three Arsenal subs made a positive impact against our exhausted team. Hopefully there will be a couple of changes next week with a couple of players returning from injury. Maybe time to give Westwood a run out? Same defence, thought our full backs played very well against Theo and AOC Catts back into the side? Campbell upfront not RW? Give Larsson a rest?
i was a bit miffed with the passing back to goalie, and them him punting it up , cant remember our players getting one of those punts, so we kept giving them possession back, hope mon sorts it out for the return. and has been said our midfield were run ragged we really need some fresh legs to come on. having said that, i was please with the performance overall, and know now we are not a soft touch, and can give any team a good game, not many will fancy playing us now.
