"" QPR defender unsure over future By Paul WarburtonMar 1 2012 Add a commentRecommend inShare.0 Clint Hill CLINT Hill has refused to rule out staying at QPR beyond the end of the season. The versatile defender thought his days at Loftus Road were numbered after the January arrival of Taye Taiwo forced him even further down the pecking order. However, Hill was the best Ranger by a country mile in the 1-0 home defeat to Fulham on Saturday. And the man sure he was on the way out at the end of the season is now not so certain after a sterling performance at centre-half where he started his career. âEvery season, every year I get written off â and I think if I play well you should see it both ways as to whether I stay or put myself in the shop window,â said Hill. âEvery one of the 25 named in the squad has been told they canât go on loan, and I would like to play more games here.â Liverpool fan Hill has eyes on a rare double over their fierce rivals across Stanley Park when Rangers host Everton at the weekend. He added: âI would really like to play them again. We played them before and got a good result then, and I did start out at a centre-back, and once in a while I like to go back to playing there.â Read More http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...ure-over-future-82029-30441626/#ixzz1ntURZOdW "" I hope so!
I hope not, hes old slow and clearly not good enough for a team that wants to do anything but get relegated. im sure he will will be one of the 15 or so let go in the summer.
I think he can do a job another season, even if mainly as a sub. He rarely lets us down when he plays, whether at back or CB.
With Gabbidon, Hall and Hill going, we dont need another LB if Taiwo stays and we need quality at CB, not subs or backup. The only way I can see him getting another year is if we go down.
Real servant for QPR and last game he showed his class again he has come through this league easily Currently first name on the sheet for me
Id never give contracts out because of what players have done in the past, especially when they enter their mid 30s. If you want harsh, Id have sacked Warnock in the summer and got an experienced PL manager in. I said it as the time and although people disagreed, Im sure wed have been in a better position now if that happened.
Would definatley give him another year. Derry has got one, and tbh Hill has looked one of our better players recently. Can still do a job for us, and deserves another year.
Another awful bit of business from Warnock, I think he will be let go to Leeds on a free unless their is some bad blood from when he played there before. Its like saying Bothroyd is better than Hulse so we should offer him a longer contract when its clear neither are good enough.
His covering in the last match saved us numerous times. I'd pick him as a wise old head that doesn't get away by schoolyard cliques and possibly a coach for the future. Definitely worth another year.
no disrespect to clint hill, his performances have been admirable lately, but if he's been the standout player of late, we are seriously lacking the tools to do the job.
Disagree. He looked a Premier League standard centre back last week. Looked better than Hall ever has!
On paper you're right but half our problem is players and their reputations. If Hill was standout in a game where we conceded one goal with a man down for an hour then age or opinions of him as something of a carthorse don't count IMO. Simply a good performance.
Hall had a good game when he scored 2 goals once (and of course missed a pen). Agyemang scored 9 goals in 8 games once, That doesnt mean they are good players. I like Hill, his attitude and effort but hes not good enough, if you want him back, you might as well say you want Gabbidon and Hall back. Players that should go 1 Paddy Kenny Goalkeeper 3 Clint Hill Defender 4 Shaun Derry Midfielder 5 Fitz Hall Defender 6 Daniel Gabbidon Defender 9 DJ Campbell Striker 10 Jay Bothroyd Striker 17 Joey Barton Midfielder (based on wages and problems in the squad) 20 Rob Hulse Striker 21 Tommy Smith Striker 26 Brian Murphy Goalkeeper 27 Peter Ramage Defender 33 Federico Macheda Striker plus all those left out of the squad.
You must love the badge because you're loyalty to our players is disheartening. I know it's not crucial but I'd not want to lose my sentimentality for most players. I do wonder how any club ever survives promotion based on your criteria.
