A pretty frank interview with SLF where he explains the current state of QPR. https://talksport.com/football/efl/567429/les-ferdinand-exclusive-qpr-role-tough-considered-leaving/
First off, congratulations and well done to all QPR fans who made their thoughts on Tim Sherwood coming to our club very clear. It worked. Secondly, poor old Les. He must have the toughest job in the world. Much harder than, say, being a fireman. Good job Les just gets on with it and doesn’t feel sorry for himself. I’m sure he has done a decent job in difficult circumstances with a very challenging brief. Just like millions of other people paid a lot less than him.
Good read & agree with it & fans who slag Les off should think again regarding what he’s done for the club so far
I don’t think him wanting to bring Sherwood in was the right thing. It was a heart over head and I’m glad someone stopped him. I have no sympathy for him, he’s being paid to do a job and should stop feeling sorry for himself and find some strikers.
R read what warburton has quoted today about strikers & then think again about what you put up on here.
Warburton: I know what else we need Matt Webb @mattwebb987 Share article: NO LESS than seven summer signings have already been made – and QPR manager Mark Warburton insists the club are continuing to work hard to bolster Rangers’ striking options ahead of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season. Most of the club’s work in the transfer market thus far has been around adding players in both defence and midfield. However, with forward Matt Smith this week leaving for Millwall, and Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells returning to their parent teams after year-long loans last term, Warburton is well aware of Rangers’ need for strikers. We have some targets – some very clear targets MARK WARBURTON Share “Credit must go to a lot of people – to Lee [Hoos], Les [Ferdinand], the recruitment team and all of the staff around us,” the R’s boss told www.qpr.co.uk. “A lot of work has been done, and I’m delighted with the players we’ve been able to bring into the building already. “However, we’re all aware that there’s still a lot more work to do. “Matt Smith moved to Millwall this week, and we wish him all the very best. So I’m sure our supporters are panicking about the striker situation. “The fact is, it’s still very early in the window. Some Premier League clubs aren’t even back for pre-season training yet, and there’s still a lot of work to be done by other Championship clubs.” Warburton added: “The market will move. We have some targets – some very clear targets. But it’s a tough market and what we have to do is find the right balance between getting work done early and being patient. “As the window draws to a close, and players still haven’t moved on, there will be business to be done. “However, as I said, a lot of work has already been done by a lot of people, with the sole aim of making our squad as strong as possible before the start of the season.”
I get his point, but it's a bit of a worry if we have to wait for the market to move before we can sign any strikers. 'As the window draws to a close' could mean starting the season with Oteh on his own up front - have we got anybody else at the moment? I guess we'll be waiting for loans from Premier clubs as we did last year with Wells and Hemed, but I'd like to hope that the targets include a couple of lower league rough diamonds.
We have options up front; what we don't have are experienced options up front Maybe several of the youngsters will make the step up but I wouldn't want to start the season with that needing to be the case
Always remember what was said by a certain pundit on a certain football show, “You won’t win anything with youngsters” Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it, I say !!!
