I am no techy but have had a few occasions when my virus protection has reported an intrusion attempt here, usually something like: Malicious exploit kit website, Severity â High, from Ismansfootballs.us at 94.242.216.61 (somewhere in Italy, allegedly) Also some other attempts from unnamed sources at about the same time Anyone else? Or anyone who understands this stuff? And a warning for those who maybe don't have up to date protection
If anyone other than me is interested in this, according to comments on a Norton advice site: "An exploit kit is a drive-by download attack that looks for unpatched vulnerabilities in your operating system and programs, that can be used to install malware without any action on your part. Norton detected the threat and blocked it. You may want to run LiveUpdate and scan your system just to be certain that nothing managed to slip though, but otherwise there is no cause for concern and really nothing else you need to do. Note that Norton blocked the threat at the initial stage - the exploit kit. In order to infect your system the kit would still have needed to find a vulnerable program, launch the exploit and install the malicious payload." Sounds like no problem if you have up top date protection, but might be a problem for anyone who hasn't. Worth running a check, I'd say
Many people post different things and put up many links, if one has a bug and the person posting it has no warning of it then its there in the system your own protection is obviously working vision and warns you its there and will bust it for you a hazard of an open forum
erm and it came from Italy you say.bugs from Italy don't need security he usually has his name on his posts.
Yup, in fact I have had the same message a few times over the last month so thought I'd mention it, as it keeps recurring, in case anyone else needs to take care. The other one I have a problem with is called Backdoor.bender.Dorkbot.A - it only comes on here after a Leeds loss and auto generates multiple posts about pins dropping. If you can help me eradicate that one I'd be grateful, as my anti-virus seems unable to. I did have a problem with Worm.clive.Malevo.FP but I have found some software that filters that one out, praise the gods.
