Alright lads, after going through the What Do You Do thread, it turns out there's a fair few english students/teachers or aspiring writers among us, so I thought I pass on this website.

My Dad has been putting together a bit of a history (in anecdotal form) of his time in Africa and asked me to pass it on to a few fellow students and tutors at my Uni. He's basically looking for a bit of constructive feedback, so any comments would be welcomed.

They're on his website (he set up a Diabetes charity a few years ago) under the link for African Tales at the top right hand side of the page.

    http://run500miles.com/run500miles.com/Home.html

If you get a minute they're decent little reads and a pretty interest insight into African life in the 80's.

    Cheers.

Do you mean all the timewasters on here or just me in particular?

Damn off topic and my username sharing the same abbreviation ;)

I'll have a read through it this weekend as the missus is away all weekend and I've got miniOT to look after so once she's in bed; I've got nothing else to do.

I'll give it a read through if I've got time after I've finished this essay I'm currently procrastinating from!

not necessarily true. there's an experimental procedure that's been successfully trialled in Brazil where if its treated before full onset (only about a 6 week window) it can successfully prevent the autoimmune response from destroying the B-cells. Dont know how long the effects last though - its still quite recent.

I haven't a clue mate, I'm sure my Dad is aware of it though...Without blowing his trumpet for him, he's pretty high up in the treatment of childhood diabetes, works predominantly in Newcastle, Durham, Darlington and Bishop Auckland but more recently has been asked to lecture all over the world (went to Buenos Aires last year, is going to Dubai next week and Cairo in the summer). Made me feel like I was showing him a macaroni collage when I got my degree in English...
