Not very well written, but the sentiment holds true for us all! http://www.carrowroad.net/cnews/index.php?post=a-fans-plea-to-paul-lambert
i genuinely do not understand the fear some fans are showing. there are only a handful of jobs which lambert would leave us for and those are jobs where we'd all say 'fair enough - you can't turn them down'. none of those clubs will approach lambert at this stage of his career - it would be too risky. lambert is not an idiot - he knows what he's onto here. he has a chance to create a legacy at a club which will last, and not many managers get that chance. he is still young and still learning (he keeps saying this - another indication HE knows he's not ready himself) and it would be a massive mistake to leave our club too early - it could jeopardise the rest of his career. some people should forget the fear of losing our best ever manager - cos thats what i believe he is - and just enjoy the ride of having him here! if your constantly looking over your shoulder you won't enjoy it and whats not to enjoy at the moment?! its only natural he'll move on at some point - lets face it, most managers move on at some point regardless of who they are, but we genuinely have a manager in charge who is switched on big time. he doesn't make many mistakes and those he does he learns from. he will continue learning at our football club for a while yet. we'll ALL recognise when the right time is, and it certainly isn't now
At the top of the article I thought it said "writes for the first time" which would make sense. Anyway agree with the sentiment but don't see him leaving just yet
Not sure how you can jump to that kind of conclusion, he can go anywhere he wants if someone asks him to join them.
well i completely disagree! of course technically he could go anywhere but i'm being realistic. agree with thurnby, its a waste of time articles like this (sorry dave - not yours in particular but the original article)
I accept it is unlikely he would take a job, say for instance, at West Brom but he might and he could if he wanted. I know what you are getting at supers and you can probably accuse me of 'knit-picking' but to me it just appear a somewhat bold statement when we do not know the inner workings of his mind.
I think he would be an idiot were he to leave but in all honesty if villa were to go for him, would he turn it down realisticly?
To be quite honest I don´t understand why any fans should feel the need to voice these kind of sentiments. Lambert himself has never suggested in any way that his future might lie away from Carrow Road, in fact he´s on a couple occasions turned down what, on paper, might have appeared to be more, or at least equally attractive opportunities (Celtic and Burnley). He´s always struck me as being totally honest and forthright in his opinions, and he certainly seems settled and happy here, and doesn´t in any way seem to be driven by money. By that I mean that he seems to be completely at ease with the financial restraints that our club has had to live with recently, and also seems quite prepared to accept them for a while yet. If he should be tempted by a mega bucks club, which also means mega pressure, mega expectations, and far less tolerance, then so be it, but I have serious doubts on that score. Certainly you can bet your life that McNally will fight tooth and nail to make sure he doesn´t, and so will we. Have faith.
roberto martinez turned them down. he's a bright, intelligent man who is trying to build something at a football club with the full backing of a great board. see the comparison? if lambert went to villa, who are a bigger club than us admittedly, it would push his career back! why do that? staying at norwich next year and progressing further is a far more exciting option than trying to drag a sinking ship back up again, without funds, without backing and with supporters who are begging for success. bigger club in name does not mean its the right move. same equates to everton. we have an extremely ambitious manager - he won't go to a club for more money and nothing else - he'll need huge assurances that the club he goes to will give him the kind of backing he gets at norwich, the kind of backing he won't get at those clubs but would get at a liverpool, tottenham. seriously, why worry about it? he has never made any suggestion that he is unhappy here or that he wants to leave. if and when he eventually leaves, he leaves - nothing anyone can do about it anyway! just enjoy the ride
....i cannot see him being tempted by a "mega bucks" club just yet nor a m-b club being interested in lambert, apart possibly arsenal who have done things in a similar way to us in that they recruit young, untested potential. lambert has nothing on his resume that says he can go out and spend £30M on a single player and mould this individual into a team, nor in international recruitment and trading. i have no doubt he can do it, but are the money men at the top clubs prepared to take a risk on this. so, at the moment this only leaves the likes of villa, while admitting their potential is greater than ours, and this only marginally, would he be prepared to give up all he has done at city and walk away into the unknown, walk away from the fans who adore him, walk away from a board that backs him as much as is possible and walk away from a job that is not yet completed. i would be very surprised if he were that type of man.
Paranoia is a fascinating aspect of the psychology of football support. Some deal with it better than others. No need for any pleading, Lambert has never indicated that he's anything but happy to stay at Norwich and we've discussed potential moves available to him in the past.
