It was my first visit to Swansea today and though it's another away ground ticked off the list, I'll be returning for sure when we play you again either in the cups or next season. Got to the ground at about 1.15 and met some posters from here! It was great to meet Dilligaf, SA9, FFS and one other (sorry can't remember the name of the poster...) for a couple of drinks before the game. You guys were very welcoming and my old man and I appreciate it. It was good to hear of some stories you've all had following the Swans from League 2 and the Vetch Field to the Premier League and the Liberty Stadium. I have got a headache though from the amount of times FFS (in his Mark Gower Swansea shirt) kept on talking about Mark Gower himself! Christ I've heard of people having favourite players but ease off a bit eh!? Cheers Dilligaf for directions to the place etc. and do get in touch when/if you're coming down to the Bridge for the return match in April and we will try to make you welcome in the same way you did us. Cheers lads The game was very evenly balanced. Two teams who both cancelled each other out with similar styles of play and both sides quite tired from midweek victories in the cup. I think a draw was a fair result and though I'm gutted you guys got the goal in the last minutes, you deserved it. Your fans are very loud in the Liberty Stadium. Some of the best home fans in the country by quite a way. We had some great banter with the Swansea fans to our left with 'handball' chants and the usual England and Wales stuff. Both sets of fans created a good atmosphere today and it was great to be a part of. This Liberty Stadium is a great stadium! Very neat and tidy with a great pitch. There was one hell of a hailstorm at the end of the game as the fans were leaving. Crikey! It really was chucking it down and did so until we had passed Newport! Anyhow a really good day out. I am happy to take a point from Swansea as you are a tough team to get points off in your own backyard. You will be fine this season and for many seasons to come and I think that you will find that you will establish yourselves as a Premier League team with ease. It was great to meet you 4 Swansea fans before the game and give us a bell if you come to the Bridge. You helped make it an awesome away day. Cheers all
Glad you enjoyed your visit Bucks. Did you watch Twin Town in the end? Dilli was going to quiz you about it today.
I was very relieved he didn't test me as I haven't watched it... but I definitely will! I set myself down to watch it online but then had something else to do so didn't watch it at that moment... I will though for sure
Top post. And I am going to stick my neck out now and say Chelsea will win the League this year. We are playing extremely well at the minute but Chelsea did manage to have a stranglehold on parts of the game with neat passing and quick attacks - probably the best i've seen by an away team at The Liberty. In a game of few chances I was chuffed with a point.
If we had held on to the 1-0 lead then I think it would have been our best 3 points of the season after a really tough midweek game. You played very well and were good value for a point. On leaving the ground I managed to hear, over the farking huge hailstorm, Chelsea fans saying that a point is a good result. Not many teams go to the Liberty and come away with all 3 points in the bag.
See I told you all what FFS is like. The other one mate was Billybjack but don't mention him around Neveroff. I'd have to agree with everything Bucks says. Good day all around and great to have a chat with proper football fans too. Just a pity more people can't be like this. I will be interested come the end of the season where your visit to the Liberty ranks on your list. You can tell me when I see you at the Bridge.
Yep I'll tell you come the end of the season. At the moment on terms of having a great day and all it would be: 1. Swansea 2. Spurs. 3. Arsenal 4. Wigan 5. QPR
He did bang on a bit, but at least we established that he's not actually Mark Gower himself. Nice to meet you Bucks, glad you had a good day and I'm definitely up for the away fixture. Dill, keep me posted on the plans
Hi bucks glad you enjoyed sad you forgot me so easily. Was a cracking game and a hard earned point. Was great to meet yourself and your old man and chat about all things football. Thats what away days should be like. All the best for the rest of the season and we will see you in Wembley maybe.
I see that FFS hasn't shown his face tonight. That's 4 of us there today confirming his love of Gower. As Billy rightly says that's what away days are all about . Bucks and his dad both wore their Chelsea shirts today with no bother at all and sat in a pub having a laugh and a pint or two with some of us Jacks. Happy days indeed, why weren't more of you lot there today ?
This thread has been a joy to read lads, and pleased to hear the pre match meeting and refreshments was a hit, think the result on the field was the right result in the end, from two teams that gave their best considering the midweek fixtures too. Glad you enjoyed your day out Bucks Blue...........
