Rangers Newco. My gut feeling is, that despite attempts by the owner, this isn't Rangers but a new club. Rangers FC plc is being liquidated, and to my mind that is the club with the history. All the old is just now freely available to use and has been adopted not continued. Rangers Newco, with the same ground, strip and badge and even some players is just a completely new club and it should just stop trying to attempt to be anything else but. It is up to the supporters what they think. What do you think about it?
I'm trying to put myself in the place of a diehard Rangers fan at the moment. We ,once, were close to this situation ourselves when the Mears family manouvered us into a debt ridden nightmare! Thankfully our fairy godfather Ken Bates appeared and we haven't looked back since--and---we didn't have to change our name to New Chelsea either! So what is different with Rangers and what will they be doing with their future allegiences? Perhaps a lot of Scottish PL clubs chose their voting intentions with a view to enlarging their gates!
Bated nearly finished us off with the west stand...nearly...he had the good sense to find a purchaser in RA and managed the deal done at the last minute. We were days, apparently even hours, away from following Leeds.
bates did wonders to save Chelsea from the developers then went and ****ed it all up by slagging off the great Matthew Harding (who saved us yet again) AFTER his death and doing it again after RA took over. He's turned into one bitter old bastard!
Let's settle this once and for all. A club is a club because of it's fans. Owner's change, player's too, all the time, ffs they are playing in the same place, will have the same fans. It's not a Wimbledon/ MK Dons thing or Woolwich/Arsenal because the franchise moved to another town in that instance, the team now in Wimbledon, AFC is supported by the original fans and for me they hold the history, not the club. So as a football fan I would say. Forget the business angle Rangers whatever their name will always be the same old same old.
