Last words on his departure from Tranmere Rovers from Les Parry - "I have been in the game long enough to know I was on a sticky wicket with the way results have been going. I wanted to carry on. I have got us out of this kind of situation on two occasions before. In fact we were in a worse position than this in the last two seasons and I would would like to have done it a third time. I wish Tranmere every success, they will always be in my heart." It is thought Mr. Parry will not be receiving a multi-million pound pay-off... Good luck to him.
Seemed like a thoroughly decent bloke (though I wasn't a fan of his tactics). I also believe he was promoted from club physio to caretaker manager, then kept the role. Interestingly, they have reappointed Ronnie Moore as their new manager, after being sacked in 2009. His reason for being sacked? Failure to make the League One play off's. Quite odd to think of Tranmere as having play-off aspirations (at the least) considering the strength of this division in the current season, with teams like ourselves, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Huddersfield, Colchester, Preston, Scunthorpe etc, most if not all of whom are deemed 'Championship' teams at the very least. This last point I believe is the reason behind the number of managers being sacked this season - each of the previous clubs owners desire automatic promotion, only two can get it.
I had a word with my neighbour earlier on and was pretty astonished to hear that four players in the first team squad are only making £25k a year and the best paid player, who I guess would be Showunmi is making around £1500 a week. This is hand to mouth football and quite frankly, as much as I respect Ronnie Moore, how's much is he going to change things? I think they'll be OK, but it's going to be tight. You're right, WeWant, he made the jump from physio to manager and made a decent job of it IMO. Maybe that's what Chelsea should have tried - at least their physio would have got the popular vote...
Even when Chelsea players get a head injury, they go down moaning "my groin's gone again" - can't think why... I believe it's similar at Swansea - - and Plymouth Argyle Right, I've had my sexist five minutes, I'm off to enrol on a diversity course.
Well there must be a joke about Plymouth going Bust somewhere there but I am strangely very distracted...
Not a red head among then Tewkes!! Back the orignial lump, i mean question, Les Parry the man I have a lot of time for. However as I mentioned in my match report, if his team tried to win football matches as much as they tried not to loose them, they might not be in the possition they are in now!
