I know Warnock had ties with the West Country but can we honestly resort to a pre-season against Plymouth, Taunton and Lands End 2nd Scout Troop's 1st Eleven? What would you think of QPR hosting a tournament in the same way as Arsenal do at the Emirates? We could try and attract a couple of big names from Europe or even USA & Asia. How about a round robin with us, LA Galaxy, Shanghai Shenhua (Anelka's team) and PSG? Or maybe we could arrange for some Serie A or La Liga teams like Valencia or Athletico Madrid, Udinese or Lazio? I doubt the very top teams would want to bother but playing a few games over a week might give teams a chance to blood some new signings and give us a taste of how teams outside England may play. Having them come to us would save Rangers and their fans having to travel abroad and we could probably fill Loftus Road if games were played against some big names. There is more chance of me paying to see a few home games in such a tournament than taking a week off work and flying out to another country to watch our pre-season. What say you?
Start off with a small non league team or 2, go away for an Asian tour to increase our profile and then have a glamour match at LR for our final game. Much better than pissing about in cornwall because its close to the managers home.
There can be no greater certainty than this. It would be great if they came over to Ireland to their legion of fans here.
The Loftus Cup! Thats what I set up for pre season on football manager Invite a team from Brazil, and two from Europe i.e Sampdoria or a half decent dutch or portugeese team.
Exactly! Looks like this might have to wait until next year as everyone has said it is a dead cert that Rangers will be off to tour Asia.
