People have been making comparisons with Blackpool, but it strikes me we are more akin to Sunderland of last season - did well early season - went into freefall there after.

Something else that has been nagging at me as well is that if you look at Paul Lambert's career, he does have a tendancy to walk away when he feels he can't take a team any further.

Beefy, just because you may not agree with a fellow Budgie's opinion does not make it any less valid than anyone else's...

Ok, we are not on a bad run of form. Wigan we played ok against (Not great by any means but not relegation standard) and today we were against a team who will be in the Europa league next season, away from home and has just almost held Arsenal at the Emirates and we matched them.

    Really?

Look at why he left Wycombe.

And no Norwich are not in freefall - in the sense of dropping out of the division - but we are in the worst run of form under Lambert with some very tough games coming up at the end of the season. The run over Christmas has probably done enough to see us safely to the end of the season, and a couple of wins, or at least some draws, will no doubt confirm this.

    But....

And we would have equalised from the Surman pull back had Morrison not been in a world of his own.

In truth I thought we played well - the passing was a little off, the first touch not great, we were a little narrow and the team play not particularly connected in the transition - but we did match them and it wasn't a bad game.

We are not Wycombe. Lambert is at a big club where he has complete footballing control he's got no reason to leave

We aren't winning is what it boils down to. The last two or three games have been low scoring with few chances. We haven't played as well as the middle of the season but a lot of that is down to the mangers constant tinkering with the system so apart from the defence, nobody is getting a non stop run in the team.
Yesterday was a prime example where our midfield bossed the game for 70 minutes yet we played with one up front who clearly is either out of form or was playing out of his skin earlier in the season and has now reverted to type. And the subs didn't come on until nearly 15 minutes left.

Why would he feel he can't take NCFC any further?

Precisely! The suggestion strikes me as being so wide of the mark as to be laughable. PL has signed up to the club's seven year plan, and is fully aware that we have got, in year 2, to where the plan envisaged us in year 4, i.e. the Premier League. Furthermore, he knows that the plan envisaged dropping back to the Championship after only one year in the top flight, then getting back up for an extended period. He has got us where we are without having had the time to strengthen and develop the team in quite the way that he was expecting. He's now going to be doing that in the Premier League, with more money available than originally expected. Why on earth would he feel he's reached the end of the road here as far as he is concerned? The only thing that might lead him to walk away is too many daft fans getting on his wick with idiotic grumbling. <doh>

I am well aware of the plan, and I well aware that the plan involves a provision for being a yoyo club.

As for idiot grumbling, I'll leave that to you.

Ay, and the the one up front's expression when not really chasing down the time wasting goalkeeper, or not being on the end of Surman's pull back, or heading across the goal at the back post instead of at the goal, told a story.

You shouldn't be surprised at that reaction. Your opening post about Lambert walking away was ridiculous.
