For those that remain firmly in the pro Pardew brigade despite the recent garbage we have been served up by the bucketload. They insist that because we are in the top 10 we have 'improved' on last season. Check out these awful stats:-

    2012/13 Finished 16th on 41 points. Goals scored 45 Goals Against 68 GD -23

We won 9 games at home, drew 1 and lost 9. Scored 24 conceded 31 GD -7

    Away from home - Won 2 Drew 7 and Lost 10. Scored 21 Conceded 37 GD -16

    2013/14 Currently 9th on 46 points with 5 games to play. Scored 38 conceded 51 GD -13

We have won 7 games at home, drawn 3 and lost 7. Scored a ridiculous 19 and conceded 26 GD -7

    Away from home - Won 7, drawn 1 Lost 8. Scored 19, conceded 25 GD -6

Granted we have won more away games this season [turning draws from last season into wins] but we are almost as bad as last year overall and I cannot honestly see us picking up another point the way we are currently playing. So based on this we will be 5 points better off but are on course to score less goals and concede either the same or more than 2012/13 when we were truly awful. The excuse last season? Injuries and the Europa League. What's going to be the excuse this time around?

We have NOT improved under Pardew one bit. We are a one directional, awful side that has 1 plan which doesn't work. A manager whose tactics belong in the 1980's coupled with a dogmatic approach to 4-4-2. The players aren't interested, he cannot motivate them and his soundbites are just becoming more laughable as the weeks go by. He keeps talking about this so called 'war chest' in the summer which from experience we know to be a false dawn. Even if there is money to spend would you as Mike Ashley actually trust him to spend it wisely?

Yesterday was the final straw for many. Plenty of people were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but these gutless, pathetic performances from the current group of mercenaries are almost as bad as some of those the season we went down. They are not blameless, but to be honest; would you like to play for that spineless idiot we have in charge?

I can see us losing heavily away to Arsenal and Liverpool before the end of the season. I can also see Cardiff and Swansea [who are fighting for points] coming up and adding to the misery. The man has simply go now.

Pardew needs to go. Carver and most of the coaching staff need to go. Plenty of the players need to go. Mike Ashley needs to go if he thinks he can continue to under invest.

Exactly. We will go down next season if things stay the same.

From 1993 until Pardew arrived we'd lost 35 Premier League games by 3 goals or more. In just three years at the helm Pardew has achieved this feat 19 times.

That is a truly shocking stat. Absolutely dire.

How many times had we lost by 4 goals or more before Pardew? Seems to be occurring with alarming frequency now.

West Ham fans warned us when he took over. How right they were.

It is disgraceful, there is simply no defending him anymore.

I know the players have been awful of late but we can't change the players, well not all of them anyway so the logical option is to bin Pardew off and see if someone else can get the best out of them.

So depressing knowing Ashley won't act though.

If Ashley doesn't act he's going to lose a lot of cash on ST's not being renewed, it might help to make him think twice about Pardew and take some notice of the fans.

How many of us are prepared to go through another season with Pardew at the helm?

I've said it until I'm sick: there is simply no point in getting rid of Pardew under the current regime, unless you want someone like JFK.

By the way, anyone know the record goals against for a PL team. Reckon we're going for it.

Just seen his interview on MOTD. Laughable - 'it's just not going for us'. You make your own luck. We're **** and it's your fault. **** off.

9th not 10th, if you are gonna bitch about the stats then at least get them right and if we finish 9th is that not better than 16th?

    It's 89 by Derby County over 38 games - 2007-2008

Typo error. Pointing out the fact that the table doesn't say it all.

You can keep on saying it but you're not going to change peoples opinions about Pardew, current regime or not.

Whereas I'd like to see someone better in, this is the one comment that makes me laugh. People are paying good money to watch this football club. If this sackless set of ****s aren't trying because they don't like the manager, then not one of them is fit to wear the shirt. As it stands they are telling us differently in the press. They were trying enough when we were going well earlier in the season, stringing results together. All of a sudden there is no hope of any further progress so they down tools. That is down to these players as individuals. Pardew is to be held responsible for results, tactics team selection and some of the motivation of players. Simply not trying, I can't think of one single valid reason to lay all that at a managers door. Football does not work like that. No sport does, team or individual.

I just can't get my head around this defence of a set of players who are blatantly not putting the effort in. There is no excuse so I'm not sure why people feel the need to conjure one up. Pardew has failed miserably but I would love to see the majority of these useless ****s follow him out the door. It all comes back to one man. Mike Ashley. He keeps employing Pardew, he keeps not investing and it is his useless transfer strategy to buy all these weak willed pussies. w

Oh the players are far from blameless. They're a spineless bunch of overpaid pricks. Not the first lot we've had at the club. A lot of them aren't fit to set foot on the pitch.

Not sure if anyone noticed yesterday - Tiote throwing his arms up in frustration at some of the things going on around him? See his reaction when Shola was standing on the touchline and came on. Turning away and shaking his head?

We normally get a good shift out of Tiote. A real pro.

It's not too surprising. Our play isn't too different from last year, only instead of having a mid-season boost of incoming players to improve the squad, we lost one of our best players.

What has really had an impact with regards improving those stats, is the acquisition of Remy, and Cabaye being in his best goalscoring form since he joined us, until he left. The stats prove what a limited manager Pardew is, and that we're pretty much plateauing at this point.

It still really worries me, more than ever, that we'll end up with someone much, much worse in the unlikely event Pardew is sacked. Everyone knows, given the recent non-activities by Ashley, that we're not going to be seeking improvement at significant financial cost. So wanting Pardew sacked is just a hypothetical complaint to make ourselves feel better about our club, which is, and will remain for as long as Ashley stays, going nowhere.

I'm really pleased I don't have my season ticket anymore!

Won't make any difference Albert, they'll still be gutless **** players.

We need un-Pardewed, un-ashley'd and un-pussied. Otherwise you're just papering over the cracks like Sunderland have over the last 3-4 years. As Gus is finding out, doesn't matter who you are if you have a set of sub standard pussies to work with.
