The events that have followed MA's arrival have, in my opinion, not only turned things around on the pitch but off it too. The almost daily 'Martin's message'. The treatment of the fans / crowd as individuals. The 'wacky' red , white and blue outfit. Dot, the postal lady story. Graham Humphreys and being squad No 53............ Charlie's 'arrive together' tweet The crowd of 8,571 due to 'smart' marketing......... I'm sure that others of you out there can add to this list, however my point is, that I, despite being so many miles away and unable to get to the matches, actually feel that I belong to a 'club' again as opposed to a supporter of a business. Martin has brought more than just team management to the Gills. And whether we achieve championship (in this division) status or even promotion (please....) or not, I just want to say a big 'thank you' for your efforts in turning this 'club' around to date.
100% agree. We are a proper club. There is love for the team, the management and the owner. We will keep fighting and we will go up.
Good points there Rog. There has been a lot of ill-feeling, angst and general dis-connectedness (is that a word?) around the place for the last couple of seasons. But this season there appears to be a lot of love and club spirit about. Long may it continue.
The programme notes about Tony Parry was particularly touching, I really liked that gesture. Don't forget though, just like the world is going to end soon, Martin Allen will be gone by xmas. The whole of league 2 and every other club he's every managed told us. They must be right.
