Thanks Pete , that must be the ultimate Xmas present for statos . ( i was right , we did lose against Shrewsbury boxing day 1974 )
Thanks Pete, helped me pinpoint the exact date of my first match : 30th December 1978 - we beat Blackpool 1 - 0 and I remember moaning to my uncle that I was too cold and was standing downstairs behind the goal in the double decker stand.
Oh dear, I remember this game. A sad day: http://www.11v11.com/matches/swansea-city-v-birmingham-city-21-november-2008-283455/ But, I'm going to look to see what happened the last time Swans got Chelsea and Bradford got Villa in the League Cup, the last time both teams got each other in this competition was in the same season! EDIT: Ok, in 1945/1965... Swansea lost away to Chelsea 3-2 Aston Villa hammered Bradford 7-1 at Villa Park. Given that it was extremely unlikely for all four to meet under similar circumstances in the same way after such a long time with no meetings in between, I would like to think to odds of both teams progressing again like back then makes those odds untenable. Especially when there is now two legs in the Semi-Final and the team who is at home in the second leg historically goes through to the Final
Kalimera pete! That's a good source of info there, will be making good use of that pete, thanks! By the way did you know (You probably do) that Leon's father lives in Crete! Leon bought his parents a house out in Crete some years back, anyway another bit of usless info from me.......................
If you can remember the 70's then you probably weren't there - this wasn't my first trip to the Vetch but it's the first I can remember : http://www.11v11.com/matches/swansea-city-v-scunthorpe-united-03-february-1973-133388/ Kevin Keegan was playing for Scunthorpe, I am sure of that. Attendance was 1,607 apparently ...
No didn't know that will look out for him-think there are only about 5,000 ex pats out here. Not that many Taffs just 2 in Kalives.Have you seen my other post -A happy New Year,Ilike that site as well, reminds me of all the old players over the last 60 years that I have been following them.
The first time my father took me to the Vetch was circa 1953- and we went upstairs in the Double-Decker and I got addicted-could never shake the addiction off. When I got a bit older became a North Bank Boy.
