A change is as good as a rest And can often be for the best, Oh, and by the by Not having to rely On the same players from our treasure chest... ..each week, shows how far we have come And too, how well PL has done, In building a squad Worthy of the job All rooting and pulling as one No Holt from the start last weekend Did raise a few eyebrows, and send, Some jitters, I´ll bet But no need to sweat There´s plenty on whom we can depend And many ways PL can switch And swop players around on the pitch, There´s options galore To defend and to score Which is good if we run into a hitch And if and when Whitbread and Ward Along with Ayala, record, A clean bill of health ´Twould add to the wealth Of resources, PL has got stored Those who some thought might find their stay Here tough, have impressed in a way, Few could have believed (Bet Lawrenson´s peeved) They really have shone in their play I´m thinking of Tierney for one And Ruddy and Johnson, who´ve come, On in leaps and bounds At Premier League grounds Considering they´re all pretty young And Bennett and Pilkington too Are proving what some of us knew, That, given a chance They can only enhance Our team, for the games that ensue So the 23 strong squad we´ve named Is looking better with each game, And whoever plays Wherever, these days Should still help keep us in the frame. Absolutely spot-on RBF! We certainly have a wealth of hungry young players gaining valuable experience along the way! Pleasure talking to you, sir
Evening dave, Dare I say that the new boys hunger, enthusiasm and desire are perhaps proving to be just as valuable assets as we had hoped for, and, in the long run, could prove to be equally as valuable, or perhaps more so, than Premier League experience on tired and unwilling legs, might have been.
