So on a different topic away from the cause of our depression , what do you think of David Feckhim's decision to forego about £3m in salary in the hope that it will secure the knighthood ? I am convinced it was not done for charitable reasons , although obviously some charity will benefit. At the press interview it became apparent that the charity to benefit had not yet been chosen. When you heard of other well known people doing things for a charity you knew it was because they had a real desire to say thank you , or because they had been " moved " in their heart to do something. But this guy , for whom £3m is pocket change , is willing to donate to a charity he has not heard of. How can he be passionate , thankful or " moved " by an anonymous charity ? What reason then for doing it ? I , cynical me , can only think it is for an honour from his chum PM D. Caneron , or maybe there is an income tax advantage ? Can any of you tax experts enlighten us ?
According to one of the sundays he would pay about 70% tax on wages but image rights or monies gained through shirt sales etc would be about 30%, I feel that done for the correct reasons it is a fine example to set given if he never got another bean he wouldn't go hungry, the fact is unless you know all the story you can never come to a solid conclusion. I'm happy for the charity to receive the money rather than the taxman!!
Firstly it is obvious that it benefits DB and it is another clever marketing ploy to increase his worldwide exposure. However, if any charity benefits from what he is doing then fairplay and he gains my support - especially when you see knobs like Dann wiping their arses with money!
He does not need the money anyway and it is purely a case of pay a huge tax bill or help some other more worthy causes out! Fair play to him all the same!
