Anyone read this article? Why don't former players just shut up when it comes to negatives? https://tbrfootball.com/michael-bridges-shares-worrying-concern-leeds-captain-liam-cooper-told-him/ Michael Bridges shares worrying concern Leeds captain Liam Cooper told him please log in to view this image By Will Butcher Published on August 28, 2019 Michael Bridges has claimed in an interview with English Football Show that Leeds United captain Liam Cooper – among other members of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad – have told him that the squad ran out of energy by December last season. Leeds have started the 2019-20 campaign in superb form, sitting at the top of the Championship table with four wins and a draw from their opening five league games – beating Wigan Athletic, Bristol City, Stoke City and Brentford. Similarly, Leeds began the 2018-19 season in flying colours and remained in the top two places for much of the campaign. However, they died off towards the end of the season, eventually finishing in third and losing in the play-offs. Former Leeds striker Bridges has claimed he has been told by Cooper and other members of Leeds squad that the side ran out of energy as early as the turn of the year – which will worry Leeds fans given the side have adopted the same style this term. “The other thing Leeds struggled with last year (as well as the injury to Kemar Roofe)… I was speaking to a few of players, (including) Liam Cooper the captain… they just felt after Christmas they’d almost run out of energy, the way they’d been playing football,” Bridges said. TBR’s view – Can Leeds hold on this time around? Patrick Bamford claimed earlier this season that the side are fitter than they were this time last season. However, the way Leeds play is so intense, that burnout is inevitable. Instead of worrying that the squad could eventually run out of energy, Leeds must secure as many points as possible while they still have that energy and see how far they can go.
The point I'm disgusted about is a former player, and alleged supporter, revealing this in public. Why? Hardly support, is it? Trying to go one better than rentamouth Whelan?
Wheres the surprise, everyone could see that except those in denial. Pundits predicted it but were wrong of course. Strange cos it never happened before to a Bielsa team
I've got to admit I don't get this run out of energy claim. Comparing the statistics up to December and then afterwards... Did we still have as much possession and create as many chances? Bamford failed to score and Roofe was injured. Every team starts to have tired feeling players to towards the back end of the season to an extent.
The only one who ran out of energy was Pablo IMO, but with Costa and Forshore should be OK this season.Eddie and Costa with the goals we struggled with, should have it covered.
Regarding the running out of energy argument. I can understand it because of the high intensity that we play with. But IMO we lost the play offs not because of tiredness but because of stupid individual mistakes. So I'm surprised how well we did to get so close If according to Cooper fatigue was setting in, in December.
Yes ex-players should just shut the **** up. Id be more concerned that this doesn’t cause a rift between Bielsa and Cooper. Bielsa does not like players breaking ranks. Saving grace might be that bridges is repeating a private conversation rather than Cooper giving an interview.
The lazy ****ers need to walk a mile in Shakos shoes, the amount of runs he does to the bar is staggering
They wont listen bud. Im hoping this time around when we start to tire that costa and fast eddie plus our u23s step in and add the energy needed.
Another point, they've all got these tracker devices attached to them as well, the coaches and medical staff know exactly who has been doing what, how much ground they have covered and the exertion rate of each player. A lot of our possession and small sideways passing is the players taking mini breathers. We are capable of attacking from the left or right, everything is evened out pretty well I would say and I don't believe the players are as near to exhausted as some believe at the end of a game
